Thinking about arranging your own private trip down the Rio Grande? Let the Far Flung Outdoor Center put its 30 years of experience to work for you. We offer the following resources to make your river trip the best ever!

Gear - we offer professional, commercial grade canoes and inflatable kayaks as well as a variety of river equipment such as toilet systems, fire pans, first aid kits, waterproof bags, tents, etc. Click here for gear pricing.

Shuttles - we can provide round-trip shuttles for your group and gear. We use modern 15 passenger vans and our drivers are hand picked for their positive attitude and attention to safety and details. Click here to select the level of shuttle service that's best for you.

FFOC Advisor - all of our rentals include an FFOC staff member who is available to help you plan and organize your trip and is available until the time you shove off the bank to insure a your trip gets off to a great start!

River Runner Packet - multi-day rentals will be provided a packet of information that will include maps, equipment lists and suggestions for organizing your group.

7th day rental is free. Minimum rental charge is $10.00. Prices do not include Texas sales tax @ 7.75%, park fees, use fees or private land access fees.

Security Deposit
A security deposit is required on all rentals to insure the equipment is returned clean, dry and serviceable. Damage to equipment beyond normal wear and tear or lost equipment will be charged at 90% of retail cost or repair cost, whichever is lower. Repair or clean-up is based on actual time and materials used. Shop rate is $25/hour.

Reservations and Cancellations
Reservations are strongly encouraged in insure sufficient equipment is on hand and to help streamline the planning process. A flat $15 non-refundable service charge will be assessed on all rental packages. Cancellations within 3 days of the rental departure date will incur a fee of ½ the amount of the entire rental charge. For example, if 5 canoes are reserved for 3 days each and on the day of departure only 4 canoes are needed, the cancellation fee will be 1 canoe x $49 x 3/2 or $73.50. Cancellations for reasons of inclement weather or water level carry the same cancellation policy.

Final Payment
Final payment for all equipment rentals will be due on the day the equipment is returned. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, personal checks and cash are accepted.


River Permits, Use and Access Fees

(fees subject to change without notice)

River permits are required in all sections on the Rio Grande from the Tapado put-in to Dryden Crossing.

Big Bend National Park - permits are free and are issued at Far Flung Outdoor Center, Panther Junction (BBNP park headquarters) and the Barton Warnock Center near Lajitas. River sections from Lajitas to Dryden Crossing require a BBNP permit. Big Bend National Park requires a $15/vehicle entrance fee, which is good for 7 days.

Big Bend Ranch State Park - entrance fees are $3person/day and are issued at the Barton Warnock Center or Fort Leaton, near Presidio. River sections from Tapado Canyon to Lajitas require a BBRSP permit. An additional camping fee of $8/peson/night is required if the trip camps on BBRSP land. A Texas Parks & Wildlife annual pass will waive the entrance fees for up to 14 people for each day in the state park.

Access Fees - depending on the river section, there may be some additional fees to access private land holdings for river put-ins and take-outs.

Heath Canyon Ranch - this is the take-out for Boquillas Canyon and the put-in for the Lower Canyons. The landowner charges a $4/person use fee.

Black Gap Wildlife Management Area - managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife ; any river access for put-in or take-outs require each person to have a Limited use pass at a cost of $12/pass. Passes may be obtained by going to www.tpwd.state.tx.us

Dryden Crossing - this is the take-out for the Lower Canyons. $30/vehicle and $10/person including any Far Flung Outdoor Center staff or vehicles.
