Sandy was named for the nearby Sandy River
which was originally identified as the
"Quicksand River" by Lewis & Clark;
however, the name "Quicksand" gradually
evolved into "Sandy".

Jonsrud Viewpoint
Jonsrud Viewpoint, is an Oregon Trail
Interpretive Site. View the Sandy River
Valley, and majestic Mt. Hood. Trace the
route of the pioneers as they descended Mt.
Hood and crossed the Sandy River in their
covered wagons on their journey to the
fertile Willamette.

Mt. Hood National Forest
Sandy's neighbor to the east, the Mt. Hood
National Forest offers camping, picnicking,
golfing, horseback riding, berry picking,
fishing and more.

Rainbow Trout Farm
A beautiful park like setting with picnic
facilities. Several ponds are well stocked
for fishing for all ages. Located just a
few miles east of Sandy.

The Oregon Candy
Farm
The Oregon Candy Farm remains loyal to the
old, traditional methods by cooking,
molding, shaping chocolates by hand. They
offer a variety of more than 100
delicacies.

Roslyn Lake Park
Roslyn Park is situated on the shore of
Roslyn Lake, which forms the fore-bay of
P.G.E's Bull Run Hydroelectric Project.
This is a day-use-area. No overnight
camping is permitted. Tables, fireplaces,
electric stoves, water, and toilets are
provided. A play field and horseshoe courts
are available for public use. A small
concession store operates on good weather
days, offering confections and boat rental
services.
