He's Baaaack 1/5/2006 |
Get ready for another season of Jack Attacks! This roaming pen with a fin, Jack Crevalle, is excited to be back in home waters and rejoined with the Addicted Fishing family. Each week, there will be new articles keeping you up to date with news about Addictive Fishing, sponsors, the FLW Redfish and Kingfish tournaments, special events and behind the scenes stories. This week, let’s waste no time and jump right in with both fins!
Last week started a new season of last season’s shows on
the Sun Sports Network. For those Florida fans that could not get the previous network station, you can catch up on or just relive all of the “rod bendin’, drag screamin’ action”. Tune in Friday morning at 10:30 for this week’s show, Space Coast Spoonin’. See Capt. Blair show off his skills at catching redfish on the Mogan Spoon in his
own backyard.
If you forget to set the TIVO, not to worry! The episode can be seen in its entirety on AFTV. What is AFTV? It’s the latest and greatest thing to hit the web! Check the video section
above for past episodes and see which shows will be added each week. If you have already checked out AFTV, you might have noticed a sneak peek at the new Ranger ad. It hasn’t been aired yet, but you will start seeing it on TV in the next couple of weeks. The new Minn Kota spot is soon to follow so keep watching AFTV to see if Mr. Producer slips it in on the sly.
More changes to the AF website are coming! Plans to launch the newly designed web page have been leaked to me by reliable sources. The new page is set to go up in March but you may see a few changes between now and then (Like the sponsor page. hint, hint).
Stay tuned for much more news to come. There’s more on the grill than just Johnsonville Brats! Capt. Blair and the AF crew are currently shooting footage for the new season that will be aired on Fox Sports Net this summer, the FLW Redfish Tour kicks off next month, the Kingfish Tour starts in April, and anticipation of Mogan Mania 5 has already started running amuck. The New Year is just beginning and there is more to come!
Now this is how I like to start a new year!

To Be Continued 7/7/2005 |
For those who have signed up for Mogan Mail and the others that keep “in the know” by reading J.C.’s Corner, this will be the last edition for a while. Rumors are floating around about yours truly getting his own corner office when we come back. Or was that “getting a new corner”? Well, nonetheless; it’s going to look different around here in the future.
If you are heading to Ft. Pierce next weekend for Mogan Mania, I am envious! You are going to hear and see things that others (including myself) will not know about until you get back and start talking about it on the forums. One tidbit that comes to mind is a new sponsor but I can’t say anything about it or I’ll be grilled!
Don’t forget to check the web site, calendar, and forum regularly for updates. Enjoy your summer! Now, let’s all join in a little sing-a-long in the old Mickey Mouse Club fashion.
Who has a show on TV
That's made for you and me
A-D-D-I-C-T-I-V-E-Fishing
Hey, Blair! Where’s Blair? There’s Blair!
He has his drag singing
A-D-D-I-C-T-I-V-E-Fishing
Addictive Fishing!
Addictive Fishing!
Forever hold your Mogans
High! High! High! High!
Come along and join the fun
It’s as awesome as can be
A-D-D-I-C-T-I-V-E-Fishing
If we aren’t here, it means we’re there
You know we’ll be fishing
A-D-D-I-C-T-I-V-E-Fishing
Now its time to say goodbye
To all our Mogan Maniacs
A-D-D, Don’t forget about us!
I-C-T, ‘Til next season!
I-V-E-Fishing
We will be fishing!

Summer Vacation 6/30/2005 |
Well, Maniacs, Mogan Mania is almost upon us. In past years, this signified the end of the season for the Addictive Fishing family. In past years at this time, the filming was finished, the editing was complete, and it allowed them for some down time. Mogan Mania was created as a way to bring all Mogan Maniacs together as a way to say “Thank you!” and spend some time with their fans. It’s kind of like a huge family vacation. It’s just a good thing Blair’s last name isn’t Griswold!
This year is no different except for the down time. There is a new AF project in the works as you already heard. The FLW Redfish and Kingfish tournaments are in progress and are being set to air later this summer. In fact, the weekend before MMIV, Blair will be in Mayport, FL to compete in the Kingfish tournament. The weekend after MMIV, he will be in Charlotte Harbor, FL for the Redfish tournament. Talk about squeezing it in! It all works out great since Fort Pierce is located right in the middle of all of the action.
Since everyone else is going on vacation, I will be migrating for the summer as well. Next week will be the end of Mogan Mail until the tide turns and the new season begins. Not to worry, if anything important comes up, modern technological advancements makes it possible for me to keep you informed from afar. The Palmtree Pilot is much quicker than “snail mail”. These things are great! I can even report in while sitting at the sandbar.
Everyone be safe and enjoy Mogan Mania IV. Stay tuned for a special edition of J.C. coming up next week. As always, keep an eye on the website and don’t adjust your monitors if things start looking different later this year. I’m ready to spread my fins and fly!
Hey, if birds can swim, I should be able to fly, OK?

Confirmania! 6/23/2005 |
If you have not been contacted by Cari to confirm your room for Mogan Mania IV, please call (727) 799-2527 ASAP!
Cari is finally done with the long list of confirmation calls and only had two people with last minute situations that had to cancel. At last I heard, there were only 2 rooms left at the Dockside Inn. If you plan on staying there for the event, the clock is ticking so you better hurry! Not to worry, if you miss out on getting a room at Dockside, you can still join in all the festivities. Call for more details. (727) 799-2527.
There seems to be a buzz in the air and some hush-hush whispering about activities and attendees surrounding MMIV. They must be cooking something up! I can’t wait to get a whiff of what’s cookin’ so I can pass the news on to you. I know that everyone is just as hungry as I am to find out what is going on.
Meanwhile, back in Louisiana, Blair and Tadd have been dialing in their spots for spots. The FLW Redfish Tour continues as they make a stop in Grand Isle, Louisiana this weekend. You can keep tabs on your favorite team at www.FLWOutdoors.com as they post the standings at the end of each day.
Giving you something to chew on,
J.C.

Survival Of The Fishiest 6/16/2005 |
You might remember, earlier in the year, the AF crew survived a tornado that came fairly close to a U of Blue stop. Last weekend was pretty hairy! The FLW Kingfish Tournament was called short due to Tropical Storm Arlene. Prizes were awarded according to the standings after one day of fishing and that took a toll on a lot of the anglers trying to make a stand in the series. Everyone weathered the storm pretty well with some minor damage reported.
The Mogan Man is still “vacationing” in Louisiana this week. He will be switching gears and changing gear as he makes the transfer from kingfish to getting ready for the FLW Redfish Tournament. Sources tell me that Capt Tad will be joining Blair with a newly wrapped Ranger skiff with full Team Pedigree colors. This should be one sharp looking boat! Hopefully we will see some pictures coming soon.
The countdown ‘til Mogan Mania continues! The confirmation calls have started going out and more details are falling into place. Word has it that a full Costa Del Mar team will be on hand. If you missed the U of Blue stops, this will make up for it! Live music, screaming fans, fishing fools enjoying a good time. . . it’ll be just like being in college again. Also in attendance will be those that will be known as “The kings of smelling fishy”, Carolina Linker Sauce. One might say they’ll be smellin’ and gelin’.
Tornados, tropical storms. . . if ya’ll keep upgrading, I want hazard pay!

Where’s Blair? 6/9/2005 |
Last week we sent our fearless fisherman off on a trip that most people would consider a vacation. Hold on to your seat cushions! The work is about to begin!
Before setting out on his adventure, Blair had to “pick up” a few things. He made a stop at Ron Norris Buick*Pontiac*GMC in Titusville to see the people that have been treating him very well for years. Now that he has a bigger boat, Blair needed a bigger truck to pull it with. The big 35 foot Wellcraft looks great behind a black Sierra 2500 crew cab! After getting the boat hooked up, it was time to set sail.
Somebody must have forgotten to put the drain plug in this smooth sailing vessel because an hour after Blair left his home on the Space Coast, a tire on the trailer blew out. I’m sure changing a tire of a trailer that has a 10,000-pound boat strapped to it is no fun! He was able to get the flat fixed and back on the road again only to have a wheel bearing go out a few hours later. It took 14 hours to finally cross the state!
Blair made it to Texas for the Gander Mtn appearance. They had a good crowd all weekend for the grand opening celebrations. Now he is in Venice, Louisiana for the FLW Kingfish Tournament. Team Cat Daddy stole the show with their win in Ft. Pierce, FL in April. The team is from Louisiana and will be fishing familiar waters for this event. Will they be able to repeat the win? Or will an out-of-towner show them that kingfish are still kingfish no matter where they are?
Mogan Mania is coming! The count down has started and reports are that the snook are already crowding in so they will not miss out on the fun. More plans are being finalized so stay tuned for updates. It’s only 5 weeks away!
The wheels on the Mogan Bus go round and round, round and round, round and round . . .

On The Road Again 6/2/2005 |
Hey, Capt. Blair, when you said you were in for the “long haul” doing the Addictive Fishing show and tournaments, did you ever imagine yourself dragging a 35-foot Wellcraft over 3000 miles and away from home for almost a month at a time?
Blair is on his way to Texas for a Gander Mountain appearance and seminar. If you are in the area of Beamount, stop by the new store and see the Mogan Man share some of his secrets to catching the Mogans. He will be giving seminars both Saturday and Sunday, June 4th & 5th.
After his weekend in Texas, Blair comes halfway back to Venice, Louisiana for the FLW Kingfish Tour. Keep your eyes on the weather maps come June 10th & 11th. The action might be heating up as well as the temperatures but a low-pressure front and some wind might make things a bit choppy. It has been predicted that anyone wanting a paycheck is going to have to bring in some big fish. The schoolies just won’t cut it.
Don’t leave LA just yet! June 24th & 25 is the FLW Redfish Tour in Grand Isle, LA. In his “free-time” (is there such a thing?) between tournaments, Capt. Blair has plans to do some tuna fishing around the oilrigs. Blair, be sure to take the camera so we can see some of those Mogan yellow fins!
Just when he gets his “Reply” button back on the AF Forum, he takes off for a fishing trip; a fishing trip that lasts almost a whole month. It must be nice to be the big fish in the pond!
Capt. Blair, be safe on your journey and we will all be waiting for the reports and stories about your “long haul”.
And I thought migrating was a pain in the anal fin. . .

DOA Yak Attack 5/26/2005 |
In past years, Blair Wiggins has been referred to as “the rock star of fishing”. This year, they got him a tour bus and sent him out to a bunch of colleges; just like a rock star. Now it’s time to bring the music home. Are you getting excited about Mogan Mania IV yet? I know I am! This year is going to out do all others in the past with even more entertainment. Added to the line-up, I’d like to introduce to you, Cowboy Mouth! These guys are no strangers to the grueling schedule like the one Addictive Fishing has been keeping lately. They play nearly 200 shows a year and have toured with such bands as Sister Hazel, Hootie and the Blowfish (I think I know that Blowfish guy), Bare Naked Ladies (kids, cover your eyes), and Better Than Ezra to name a few. Cowboy Mouth is just another reason to start getting excited about MMIV. I will keep bringing news about events, schedules and entertainment in weeks to come.
Beaumont, Texas, have you visited your new Gander Mtn? June 4th & 5th would be a good time to plan a trip to take advantage of Blair’s fishing seminars. He will be there both days so be sure to stop into check out the new store and get some tips from one of the best in the business.
Congratulations are in order for forum members RockinNReelin, CooKnFish, and Little Poon! Little Poon had a tough BMX finale this season when he crashed on the second jump. After being run over by a couple of competitors, he managed to get back on his bike to finish the race! How’s your arm feeling? Finishing 4th in the state for the season, Little Poon, hold your helmet with the tread marks on it in the air and be proud about being in the top 5!
This past weekend, DOA Lures hosted their very own kayak fishing tournament. Sources tell me that Mark Nichols wanted to put on a tournament that would be more fun than competitive. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were all within one inch of each other. You can’t get more competitive than that! Each angler took pictures of their catch and submitted only their biggest trout, redfish, and snook and added them together for total inches of fish. First place won with 64 inches, 2nd place had 63½ inches, and RockinNReelin showed them that women really do know how to fish with her 63 inch slam! Also entered into the tournament were Ken “Beachsnooker” T and CooKnFish. DOA raffled off a brand new kayak that was won by CooKnFish.
Congratulations again to all! Stay tuned for more news, MMIV updates, and maybe I’ll check to see if that ink is dry yet. In the mean time, don’t forget that the NEW AF hats and visors are now available in the AF Tackle Shop. Get the right gear to wear for MMIV!
Row, row, row your yak, gently ‘cross the flat. . .

Busy, Busy, Busy. . . 5/19/2005 |
Now, I know that last week I told you that the crew got to come home after a back-to-back tournament schedule but there is not a lot of rest and relaxation between stops.
This week, let’s take a closer look at behind the scenes of the FLW Tour. Getting everything together ready to air later this summer is a full-time job. They spend most of their free time in “lock down mode” going through footage from several cameras, trying to piece segments together in such a way that the viewer sees the story unfold and brings them along for the ride. There are artistic shots, angler footage, narrative segments, not to mention spacing them out just right to fit in the commercial breaks. After having a sneak peak at the first leg footage, all I am allowed to say about it is get ready for a tournament series like none other! This show is going to get a lot of people out of their seats… and using their coffee tables as casting platforms!
Right now, fishing is heating up for everyone. From Texas, to Florida, and up the East coast, the waters are warming up and the action is getting hot! The AF Tackle Shop has been doing very well at keeping anglers supplied with everything they need to get in on the action. Some of the hottest items lately are the Carolina Lunker Sauces, Mogan Spoons, and Mogan Kits. Operators are standing by so get your order in and get out on the water. If I was a fish, I’d be very scared!
Mogan Mania is getting closer! A fun filled weekend full of fishing, music, fishing, food, fishing, friends, fishing, and fish stories. Oh yeah, somewhere in there you might get to go fishing. Addictive Fishing couldn’t think of any better way to show their fans appreciation than to invite them all down to spend a weekend with them doing what they love to do; fish! Only 8 more weeks so be sure to register soon if you have not already!
Still to come. . . Will Blair get his reply button back? Will AF’s ink finally dry? Stay tuned!

There’s No Place Like Home 5/12/2005 |
After a non-stop schedule and a couple of tournaments, the AF crew made the 20-hour trip back to home base. The next couple of weeks will give them time to get back to their families, get some work done and finally do some laundry.
The FLW Redfish event in Texas was incredible! If you have not been to www.flwoutdoors.com yet, take a minute to check out how fat the fish are over there! The top team won with over 32 lbs of fish! Some of you Mogan Maniacs may remember one of the winners from Mogan Mania I; Kevin Shaw from Stiffy Push Poles. Congratulations guys! Most of the top 20 teams were all locals except for one. Blair and Tadd showed them that they couldn’t hog all of the spots. Way to go captains!
Addictive Fishing is still looking to fill their pool full of applicants to choose someone for website designer. They have a few prospects in but are not going to pick on a first come first serve basis. They need a selection to pick a designer that best suites their needs. Send your resume to Kevin@addictivefishing.com.
Ft. Lauderdale, be on the lookout for the lean, mean, fishin’ machine in your area! The new sleeker, slimmer, hydrodynamic Capt. Blair Wiggins is going to be spending some time with Raymarine for a commercial/photo shoot. No, that’s not lightening. That’s just the flash bulbs.
Here is an update you have all been waiting for… THE BIG NEWS! Drum roll please? Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Mogan Maniacs of all ages, this is the update you have all been waiting for so lean into the screen and take a good look. What I am about to tell you is going to leave you in disbelief! The ink is still drying? I don’t know what kind of ink they are using but they say it might be dry before the official 1st day of summer. Would a blow dryer smudge that ink? Many of you noticed some “testing” in the forum lately as well. Well, there are no good rumors there either. Blair hasn’t been at his computer in so long, he was just making sure everything still worked.
ConAir makes a terrific BLOW DRYER guys!

A Shack Shakin’ Good Time! 5/5/2005 |
The FLW event last weekend was jolly good fun! Not all of the angler will agree though. That area is a tough place to fish! Out of the top five teams, 9 out of the 10 anglers were local boys. To add more to the mixture, not all of the local boys did as well as they thought they would. There was one team that lined themselves up pretty on day one, holding the 4th spot. On day 2 it all fell apart for them and they sunk to 44th over-all. It has been said before, “A tournament can’t be won on day won but it can be lost”. Such is true with another team that only had a 5 lb fish on day 1 but out fished the leaders on day 2 to take 16th place for the series.
MoganBus Driver, Larry, makes the news again this week. He was able to take the wheel of one of the chase boats for the FLW Tournament. Remember he took a chilling dip in the frigid waters of the Carolinas? I guess he was still thawing himself out and forgot his sunscreen. Talk about “from the freezer to the fryer”! Not to worry Addicts, it was nothing like the Evinrude banana hammock commercial type tan lines. Larry, I have one word for you… ALOE.
At the weigh-in, the crew was scrambling to get the interviews done before a pushing front rolled in. They managed to get them done, get everything packed up and ducked into the Fish Shack for a bite to eat before they hit the road again. Just as they made it inside, the bottom let loose and dumped buckets of rain. The thunder was so bad, Patrice said, “the whole building shook!” I have heard of “rockin’ the boat” but have never had my shack shook!
This weekend, the FLW Redfish Series makes the haul to Port Aransas, TX. Capt. Blair didn’t even go home after last week’s event. He and Tadd went straight to Texas to get set up and do some pre-fishing. If you’re in the Aransas area, stop by the tournament and show some Mogan love to the team.
In other news, Addictive Fishing is currently looking for some web help. They are looking to re-vamp the site and need a creative person that knows their way around the software side. All applicants can email a resume to Kevin@addictivefishing.com.

Tour de Redfish 4/28/2005 |
This week, the FLW Redfish Series rolls into Mayport, FL. April 29th, anglers will compete for cash, prizes and some camera time as Kevin’s highly trained T.V. production crew capture the story of some of the competitors. This leg is quickly proving to be a tighter race than the last. Reports are coming in that the reds are gorging themselves right now and getting fat. So don’t be surprised if it takes over 30 pounds of fish to win this one.
I feel like “the fish that got away” this week because I was able to see a sneak preview of some of the footage from the Sarasota redfish event. Even in its infant stage of editing, I can tell you that this is going to shake a lot of trees when it hits the air! The viewer isn’t going to just be watching some people fishing in a tournament. They are going see what the competitors are seeing, hear what they are hearing, and feel what they are feeling. I’m so excited about it; I’d give my left pectoral fin to be the Ryan Seacrest of that show! For more information on any of the FLW Tours, check out www.FLWOutdoors.com.

AF Making A Splash 4/21/2005 |
When last we left our wayward Crew, they were starting to feel the effects of a nonstop schedule. I am happy to report that everyone is recovering well and keeping up just fine. The MoganMan has been on the road for some time now. The tour bus has been racking up miles traveling from location to location.
Last week, Blair joined the U. of Blue tour made its presence known at the University of North Carolina. From there it was off to Gander Mtn appearance in Fredericksburg, VA. Blair was greeted by a birthday girl that has a crush on the MoganMan. Did her birthday wish come true? Only she knows that answer!
Having a day to play, Blair and Larry (the MoganBus Driver) decided to make a stop in South Carolina to do a little fishing. I don’t know of any other way to describe the outing other than this. “Man Overboard!” Larry, “noodling” doesn’t work as well for redfish as it does for giant freshwater catfish. I bet you’ll never wear your “slippers” out on the boat again! Have a nice “dip”? HA! I got a million of them! We will have to thaw him out for details later. A story like this cannot go untold!
Speaking of stories: what’s this about some big secret trip out West? The rumors have already started flying on the forum about a MoganMan Movie. I wonder who they would get to play me? Burl Ives? Waylon Jennings? I don’t think they are available. It would have to be someone sly as a fox and have a big name in TV. I guess we all will have to wait until they return to see what this is about.
University of Georgia, not to worry; the MoganMan will be back in time to re-join the U. of Blue tour coming to your campus this week. This Friday, show your Blue colors at “Last Call” and get a free drink for wearing your Costas. If you don’t own a pair yet, be sure to register to win some!
Bottoms up! (Or in Larry’s case… Bottoms up and overboard)

Simply Chillin’ 4/7/2005 |
The crews have all returned from a hellish weekend of fishing the FLW Kingfish Tour. The weather started getting rough, the 35’ Wellcraft was tossed. If not for the experience of the MoganMan, the kingfish would be lost… the kingfish would be lost. Unfortunately, that kingfish was not the kingfish to take home the gold. The headlines are all reading, “Who’s your Daddy?” and “Cat Daddy is the Mac Daddy!” with their $100,000 catch. Rumors have it that there was a camera crew onboard to catch the action and excitement of the winning team so maybe we will all get the look and feel of being onboard as we watch from our Lazy Boys. I know if I were on that team there would be a few edits and beeps needed to contain my excitement!
NC State, are you ready? Costa Del Mar’s U of Blue Tour is rolling into campus on Thursday, April 14th with the Mogan Bus in tow. It has been a rough and rocky road for the AF crew; so don’t be surprised if there are a couple of wheels missing. But in true AF fashion, the positive energy will be as high as ever when Blair hits the stage at Lincoln Theatre. Don’t forget that Costa Del Mar has a drawing to give away some of the best-looking and functional sunglasses on the market. North Carolina State University, be proud of your school colors but don’t forget to show your “Blue”!
In other AF sponsor news, DOA Lures teamed up with Minn Kota’s parent company to host a kayak fishing tournament in Stuart, FL. Let’s really put some thought into this for a moment, shall we? There was a cold front passing through with winds forecast to be 30 knots. There were less than 50 entrants expected. They were using boats you have to manually propel in conditions that would keep others strapped to the trailer. Would you believe me if I said that there were 82 deranged fishermen that fished in this tournament? Congratulations for such a strong turnout in adverse conditions! As far as I’m concerned, paddles were made for the hatchlings when they get out of line.
AF Fun Fact #17: It costs money (BIG money) to put Addictive Fishing on the air. This Fun Fact is brought to you by the makers of M.E. Mia and Edward Crevalle got together to produce a fine product such as myself to bring you important information such as this. So if you ever have any important questions that need to be answered, just think of M.E.
In this Fun Fact you will see how advertising dollars help fund the airing of some of your favorite TV fishing shows. In the case of AF being aired on 2 different stations with opposing sponsors is unheard of. The myth of TV personalities being paid big bucks is being busted in this week’s Fun Fact. The Fact of the matter is that AF is paying the big bucks to air last year’s episodes on another network for those fans in Florida that did not have access to OLN last year. Those fans won’t miss a fish from last year’s episodes on Sun Sports! This week’s repeat is Space Coast Chillin’. Join Capt. Blair along with Capt. Travis Tanner in search of redfish in the shallows of Titusville. Risks may include: twitching of right arm as left wrist rotates in circular motion, talking like a pro wrestler, sudden urges to visit bait and/or tackle shops, and feeling of being at sea on dry land.

On The Move 3/31/2005 |
Be on the lookout for early editions of Mogan Mail! Because of the new schedule of Addictive Fishing being aired on SunSports on Thursdays, your Mogan Mail will be coming to you earlier in the week. It will be the same fun filled email you used to get on Friday; its just coming to you a couple of days sooner than you are used to.
March 31st sets the new schedule of AF on SunSports. Last season episodes will be aired 3 times a week! Thursdays at 10pm, Fridays at noon, and Sundays at 9pm. This fisherman friendly time frame is sure to satisfy most Addicts.
The state of Florida is dipping to the East this week as the big boys move in for the FLW Kingfish tournament. Last week I heard a report of a tournament that was won with a 5lb kingfish. I’m pretty confident that the FLW tournament is going to produce much better results. I just hope these guys know the difference between kingfish and spinner sharks. This week, large schools of sharks have been seen cruising the east coast of Florida as they make their annual migration. Call Jimmy Buffett, we could shoot a video!

Toto, I don’t think we’re in Alabama anymore 3/25/2005 |
How did the U. of Blue tour stop in Alabama go? It was like a scene from The Wizard of Oz! As the crews were setting up and getting ready for the event to start, the sirens started wailing. Not the air raid sirens that some of them were used to hearing but a horse of a different color. The police took to the streets with PA systems telling everyone there was a tornado at the other end of town and they need to take cover! When all of the dust settled, all that was missing was the Lollipop Guild! Luckily the tornado was about 15 miles to the north and did not make an impact at the university. The evening started a little later than expected but there was a great turnout despite the weather.
For all of you faithful viewers, take note of the changes coming up. This week is the season finale on OLN. The finale will highlight some of the better segments from episodes you might have seen or missed since the first of the year. After the finale, the repeats start a new cycle in case you missed an episode. Next Thursday (March 31st) will start a cycle of replays from last year’s episode on Sun Sports. If you missed last season because you do not get OLN in your area, here is your chance to see what you missed!
The FLW Kingfish Tour is coming up next weekend. The first stop is Ft. Pierce, FL. There is $100,000 up for grabs for this event and Blair’s team is ready! Equipped with the new 35 CCF Wellcraft, triple E-tecs, and a full Raymarine setup that can pinpoint a kingfish burp miles away, the only thing standing in their way is a hundred other anglers that are just as ready. You can keep tabs on all of the tournament happenings at FLWoutdoors.com.
That’s all I have this week so keep your gills in the water until next we meet.

Schools Of Blue 3/18/2005 |
Despite being asked to stash the Mogan Bus in plain view and a rainstorm that forced an outdoor event to be crammed like a mid term, U. of Blue’s invasion of U. of F. was a proven success! Many showed up in great spirits and more than willing to share whatever spirits they had. It was a frenzy of fans and Blair was lucky to get out of there with the shirt on his back! No… really! Somebody kept trying to buy the shirt that he was wearing! It was a great time had by all.
Coming up on Tuesday, the 22nd, Capt. Blair and Costa Del Mar leave their U. of Blue mark on yet another college campus. This time it will be the University of Alabama changing its colors to Blue as the school gets plastered with wanted posters and other things. You know how those college kids are… And no “drink like a fish” comments from the J.C. Peanut Gallery! But I have heard some describe the morning after as having your fishbowl stirred. You can find full details at Costa Del Mar’s website.
Here’s the show many of you have been writing in about because you couldn’t wait to see; Episode #12! Capt. Blair loves catching redfish on the flats but he enjoys the adventures well beyond the horizon as well. In this week’s show, you will get to see the new 35’ Wellcraft in action. Did I say action? Just wait until you see the action these guys get into! Big, blue water calls for a bigger boat and this one gets the job done. Equipped with triple Evinrude E-tecs, this ride is sure to get him there and back safely and comfortably. Its like fishing from an island that you can move from location to location!
If you haven’t caught up with the Mogan Tour at any of the boat shows, this is the last weekend for boat show season. The Mogan Bus will be parked inside the Expo hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa for the Florida State Boat Show. Stop by the Mogan Theater to sign up for a chance to win a FREE Minn Kota trolling motor. Don’t forget about the seminars being put on by Blair Wiggins, C.A.Richardson, “The Watts Bros.”, Kenny Hyatt, and Fred and Diane Winters. Some guy named Mike Alstott will also be there sharing stories about being tackled by big fish too. Shhhhh… don’t tell anyone that discount tickets can be found on their website. I wonder if there will be a Wellcraft 35CCF like Blair’s there.
Do I want to know what a “Snorkle Shot” is? Those silly college kids. . .

The MoganMan Goes Back To School 3/11/2005 |
Happy Birthday Cari!
Mrs. MoganMan adds another candle to the cake this weekend. Chief Brody stopped by to say, “I think we’re gonna need a bigger cake.” How many is that now, Cari? 29? (Shhh… I had to make up for the bigger cake comment!)
Blair is going back to school this week. He will be bringing the Mogan Bus to his alma mater, the University of Florida, on March 15th for Costa Del Mar’s U. of Blue Tour. U. of Blue is a program that CDM set up to show their college customers that they appreciate their most valued clientele. CDM has done extensive research and found that college students in the southeast have been using their products for activities in, on, and around the water. Not to mention “the look”. U. of Blue will be coming to “The Swamp” across the street from the stadium. Blair will be giving a seminar with a live band to provide some of that “college atmosphere” afterwards.
Back in the Prime Time again! Sun Sports understands that real fishermen are not sitting on the couch at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. And just for all of those Florida fans that can’t get OLN in their area, Addictive Fishing has come back to Sun Sports to air the episodes you have missed out on. So mark you calendars for March 31st and get ready for some “rod bendin’, drag screamin’ action”! Sun Sports is adding AF back to their Thursday night (10pm) lineup as well as noon on Friday and again at 9pm on Sunday. That makes three times a week to catch the addiction! Check your local listings for a channel near you.
Have you seen Sun Sports lately? They are stepping up a notch with some of their sports coverage and outdoors programming. Not only do they have AF on the dial, they also have Mark Sosin, The Bite, Florida Sportsman Magazine, Sportsman’s Adventures, Fishing The Flats, and Chevy’s Florida Fishing Report just to name a few. They would also have hockey somewhere in there if it weren’t for those greedy, selfish, careless… Sorry, didn’t mean to get off track. But you can check out SunSportsTV.com for a great lineup of outdoors and Florida sports.
Don’t forget to set your TIVO or old fashion VCRs for this week’s episode. Blair will be showing off a collection of fish caught “From All Around Florida”. Redfish, Kingfish, 2 fish, 3 fish. OK, so I’m no Dr. Seuss but there is plenty of action to get you thinking of taking a road trip. Might I suggest the Space Coast?
Forever sporting my home team colors (The Yellow Tails),
J.C.

A CAL Of A Different Color 3/4/2005 |
Looking for something to do this weekend? The garage needs cleaning, the floor needs mopped and the lawn needs vacuumed. You know, not really cut, just the leaves sucked up. Or you could do some or all or the following:
The new episode of Addictive Fishing airs Saturday. This week Blair fishes a different kind of bank. The fog bank rolls in and provides excellent low visibility conditions to sneak up on redfish, which are known for having poor eyesight. This show gears us up for the opening of the FLW Redfish Tour.
The boats are lined up at the 10th Street boat ramp! Boats from all makes and models ranging from 15’ to 23’ are lined up as their captains go over them in preparations for the event. All of a sudden everything went dead silent! Not a motor could be heard, not a word was spoken. Everyone gazed as a 45 foot cigarette boat, with more props than I can count hanging off the stern, backed into the boat ramp. After a moment of scratching heads, everyone realized that it was a race boat just testing some engines and not planning on entering the tournament. If you are in the area, come on by Centennial Park and check out the festivities and cheer on your favorite competitor.
Also going on this weekend, DOA Lures will be at the Frank Sargeant Outdoors Expo at the Florida Fairgrounds in Tampa. They will be showing off some of the new colors being introduced this year. These are something to look forward to coming to your favorite tackle shop very soon.
- Gold Rush has a black back with a gold glitter belly
- Golden Brim is a translucent motor oil color with copper, gold, and silver flake mixed in
- Snowey Chicken has a lime color back with a pearl belly
- Greene Back looks like they used Avocado with red glitter for the back and pearl white for the belly
These new colors will be available in the CAL series shadtail, 4” jerktail, and the new 5.5” jerktail. I am not at liberty to say but have been advised to go as far as mentioning that there might be other reasons to check out the DOA booth *cough* for product that is not on the market yet *cough*. Sorry, I guess I’m not completely over that cold yet.
For those of you on the forum, I have a question about the East Coast Paddle Party. I’m not too familiar with this event so fill me in. From what I gather, it is a forum member gathering scheduled around freezing cold temps, hurricane force winds, and flooding rains. Is this ya’lls version of Survivor? For more information, check out the AF Forum for more details on this annual event full of family fun.
A tagline is much like a tagged fish. When you get them, you have to decide on collecting or letting them go. I thought it best to let this week’s go.

From “Talk Soup” To Chicken Soup 2/25/2005 |
Have you ever felt like you’re on a 35’ Wellcraft in 6 foot swells without being on the water? It seems like everyone I have talked to has had it, has it, or getting it. Even some of the crew members have fallen victim to “the crud” including yours truly. So this one is for all of us sickos.
A special thank you goes out to the fishing club from Christopher Columbus Catholic High School for coming out to the Miami International Boat Show last Friday. Brother Pat brought the guys out for a field trip to meet the MoganMan.
“It was a pleasure to meet them, it was a pleasure to meet Brother Pat”, Patrice says. “They were just amazing!”
During the boat show there was a big breakfast held by Irwin Jacobs. Irwin Jacobs is like the Donald Trump of boating. He is the Chairman and CEO of Genmar (parent company of Ranger, Wellcraft, and 14 other brands of production boats). When Irwin talks, people listen! Rumor has it, at this breakfast, Mr. Jacobs told the entire industry that they better get ready for the most interesting show ever seen. He was speaking of the FLW Tour!
After the boat show was over, Blair headed south for some more filming. I don’t want to let the catfish out of the bag but I will tell you that I cannot wait to see the footage! I only heard 3rd party reports about the trip and I feel like I just got off the boat myself.
If you keep tabs by reading the forum, you may have noticed by pag_yaker’s post that the Mogan Bus has pulled into homeport. Jerry, please stay off of the cell phone while you’re driving.
Back at home for a little recovering time and spending some time “under the weather”. Whenever we spend our time outdoors, we are always “under the weather” and loving every minute of it.
For those of you suffering through it, climb into the Lazyboy with your blanket, slippers, and a nice warm bowl of chicken soup and enjoy watching this week’s episode of Addictive Fishing.
Watch two episodes and call me in the morning,
Dr. J.C.

Mo’ Mogan, Mo’ Mogan, Mo’ Mogan. . . 2/22/2005 |
How about that Amazon footage? Now that is one trip I would have loved to been part of. That piranha may have been tasty but if I ever see a ‘jack’ go into the cooler, we are going to have some problems brotha! Now that Part II of the Amazon is over, on to Part II of the latest update. Things just keep getting bigger!
The production team has made a growth spurt but I believe Mr. Producerman is going to make a more formal announcement about that a little later. Let’s just say that the FLW tour will be covered from more angles than one might think. Speaking of FLW, the first leg of the redfish series kicks off March 4-5 in Sarasota. If you plan on registering, do it now because openings are going fast!
Starting in April, Addictive Fishing makes its return to the station where it all started. Formerly known as Sunshine Network, Sun Sports will be airing last year’s season starting Friday, April 1st at high noon. Check their website for local listings and times are subject to change due to sporting events that may take place during AF time slots.
This is the busiest the AF team has ever been! Between now and April, there is a lot to juggle and finish up before they can level out and set the Raymarine on autopilot. Kevin is hard at work editing the AF shows. Blair is on the road with the Mogan Tour in between shooting upcoming episodes; all of which need to be done before the FLW tour starts in just a few weeks!
Cari and her super band of AF elves have been hard at work trying to keep up with other things on the home front. The online store has been selling Lunker Sauce and Mogan Spoons faster than plywood during hurricane season in central Florida. I have also been told that with every order going out, some extra goodies have been slipping into the orders. So keep that in mind if you’re thinking about placing any orders soon.
Finally, to close this segment, I want to take a personal moment and thank everyone who reads “What’s Up?” Rumor has it that this section may be growing as well because I’m just too big for this little square on the home page. With more hits than a CAL tail in a school of dink trout, you fans have shown that you have taken me into your aquariums and accepted me as your own. I wonder if we might be able to persuade them to changing the name of my square, too. Anyone have any suggestions? It has to be fun, original, appropriately describing a news/story column. Lay some ideas on me!
Keeping afloat but not belly up

Waiter, there’s a fish in my ‘Soup’! 2/18/2005 |
Mogan Maniacs, lend me your ears. The next few editions of J.C.’s corner are going to be overflowing with info! There is just way too much to cram in one little square on the homepage. Addictive Fishing is growing so big I don’t even think the U.S. is big enough to hold them!
January 27th, on a Thursday at 1:30 in the afternoon, Addictive Fishing pulls 139,000 Neilsen rated homes into the addiction. That is 3 times the normal viewer ratings for the show and the highest the network has ever seen! OLN, you’d better take care of these guys… You aren’t the only ones that can say “Out you go”. ( can I say that? LOL Ok, edit that part out.)
Episode #4 was too big to air in the 30 minute spot so it was split up so you wouldn’t miss any of the action. Blair wounded himself by kissing a beauty of a peacock on episode 4. If you look close, you can see it starting to heal over. It left a beauty of a mark for all eyes to zero in on.
HighRoller Lures is growing larger as well. They are expanding from making lures to taking people out and showing them how well they work. HighRoller Adventures is a new venture of theirs that is being headed up by Terry Jertberg. From the Amazon to Alaska, Terry can put you in the right place at the right time for an experience of a lifetime! Also on the HR plate is HighRoller Innovations. With several patents pending, HighRoller is looking to make modifications available to make your boating experience more enjoyable, economical, and efficient. Keep your eyes and ears open to their website as well as ours for upcoming products from the good people at HighRoller. Their link can be found on the Sponsor page on this website.
More exciting news can be heard in South Florida. The word is out and the posters have been hung. AF has been invited to bring the Mogan Tour to the Miami International Boat Show this week. The MoganMan himself will be signing autographs, sharing tips, and telling stories of adventures. Don’t forget to sign up to win a FREE Minn Kota trolling motor while you take a load off your feet and relax while watching a couple of episodes of Addictive Fishing that will be playing on the big screen. There is a lot of ground to cover at this event so come by to relax often. You can even get tattooed with the AF logo! That’s right, the new AF rub on tattoos are available at the Mogan Theater.
Have you seen the clip from Talk Soup yet? It’s great! I laughed so hard when I saw it I thought I was going to knock some scales off.
What’s next? FLW tour? Nah, let’s leave that for later. The new 35’ Wellcraft? Nope; you’re going to have to wait until episode #12. I tell you what… let’s just leave it where it is until the next report. Mr. Producerman, if you thought the phones were ringing off the hook and the emails were flooding in before, “you ain’t seen nuttin’ yet!”
Gettin’ the tail out of Dodge (and takin’ the “Chevy to the levy”?)

Aquariuses-es-es, Water Heaters, and Fish. . . 2/11/2005 |
. . . Name three reasons not to drink the water on the West coast of Florida.
The great, late Johnny Carson could have delivered it much better because I just don’t have the hat for it. Nonetheless, they all have something in common.
There are a lot of birthdays to celebrate this month. Mr. Producer (Kevin), Marketing Director (Trice), MoganBus Driver (Larry), and the Mogan Mother-in-law all have birthdays this month. Also celebrating are forums members BigRob, GatortroutBoy, and Cooknfish (West Coast Crew members).
There must be something in the water over there… because it sure surprised Patrice on her birthday. The water heater decided to put on a show just before family members showed up with a cake for her. They quickly turned it into a “Help, there’s a flood!” party and were able to empty the garage in record time. The plumber even got a piece of the cake while getting the heater back online.
Talking to the other birthday celebrities, it turns out that they all have water heaters too! And to take things one step further, get this… they all enjoy watching Addictive Fishing! Is it a coincidence that this week airs a show that was filmed on the West coast of Florida (here we go again) in the water? Who would have thought that so many would have so much in common in one area?
Not to leave anyone else out, the AF love is being spread to central Florida this weekend. The 38th Annual Central Florida Boat Show is being held Feb. 10-13 at the Orange County Convention Center. For those of you heading out to the event, don’t miss out on the admission and parking coupons that can be found online.
http://www.boatshowflorida.com/38th.html
Also, while you’re there, don’t forget to stop by the Addictive Fishing booth and sign up for the FREE Minn Kota trolling motor giveaway.
Central Florida? Do they have water there?
Taking a deep breath,
J.C.

AF Going Soft 2/4/2005 |
A long time sponsor of Addictive Fishing, D.O.A. Lures, has just released a new line of baits for 2005. The new C.A.L. 5.5” Jerktail is now available in many tackle shops that carry the DOA product line.
The new 5.5 is actually closer to 5 and three quarters but that just didn’t work as a marketable name. That’s kind of like naming your kid after a fish or something. I’m not bitter… I’m not bitter…
2005 is also going to bring some other really cool products from DOA Lures. One of which should be available in March. The DOA Chughead is a soft plastic popper head that slides over the front of your favorite soft body lure. It looks a lot like the head of a ChugBug but is made of soft plastic. I have heard some stories of fish hammerin’ the prototypes that made my fins stand on end. I can’t wait to get a hold of some of these! There will be 5 colors introduced in the next month or so; Pearl, Chartreuse, Black, Red, and Glow.
These are some of the exciting new products adding to the lineup already available. Don’t forget about the Grubtails that were introduced last year. These baits are really making a splash lately. A great cold water bait, the grubtail is a solid redfish producer. Also, DOA shrimp are now available in pieces! Spare Parts packs are sold separately; bodies, hooks, and weights.
If ya think that DOA is good for nothing more than jerkin’ perch out of some potholes, just wait ‘til you see Battle Of The Bridge II!
Falling for that “plug” again,
J.C.

Homecoming Invasion 2/1/2005 |
Since when does “swim wear” not include bikinis?
Oh, sorry, back to our regularly scheduled update… The Mogan Tour 2005 rolled into St. Petersburg for the Tampa Bay Boat Expo this weekend. Unbeknownst to them that the city would be taken by pirates led by Jose Gaspar. Jose’s brother, Jorge, decided he needed a new vessel and took over the Tropicana Dome.
I am happy to say that Addictive fishing, with its merry band of followers, were able to fend off the pirates and keep them from taking away the Ranger Phantom! AF colors outnumbered by far all other flags being flown. Forum members GhenoeFisherman (Johnny), pag_yaker and the Mrs. (Jerry & Mary), Nitro (Dave), and the Cook’s Crew (Mike, Mark, and Sharon) all showed up in Addictive Fishing shirts and surrounded the booth when Jorge came near.
AF Fun Fact # 106: For those that might not know anything about Gasparilla in the Tampa Bay area, it is their version of Mardi Gras celebrating a Royal Spanish Naval officer that sailed the West coast of Florida in the late 1800’s. Capt. Morgan stopped by the expo but by morning, nobody remembers where he disappeared. Has anyone see Capt. Morgan? He is gone! Dang pirates…
Next stop, O-town, mid-line, Main Street, mainstream, home of the mouse house, Equator meets Prime Meridian, where the hurricanes’ X marks the spot, Florida. I think I left out something about the 38th Annual Central Florida Boat Show in Orlando. February 10-13, come meet and greet the AF crew at the Orange County Convention Center. Don’t forget to enter for a chance to win a brand new Minn Kota trolling motor while you’re there!
Your abducted pen with a fin,
J.C.

A Shot In The Trop 1/27/2005 |
The AF crew is recovering nicely from their trip to Maryland. They are all thawing out and Blair’s fish poisoning is clearing up well. Treatment has been a bear for the Mogan Man. He has spent a whole week without being able to venture out into the sunlight due to the side effects from the medication. Cabin fever has set in as a side effect to the side effect. Getting out to the Tampa Bay Boat Expo this weekend will help cure that fever.
Since he can’t be out fishing, the next best thing is to talk fishing with as many AF fans as possible this weekend in St. Petersburg at Tropicana Field. This weekend, the not so famous brother of Jose Gaspar, Jorge, will be invading the trop in search of a new boat. The in-field will be filled with boats but the Mogan bus is parked out front for all to see. It can even be seen from the interstate! The expo will be held Thursday thru Sunday but Saturday is
the day to be there.
Addictive Fishing will be shooting some footage throughout the event on Saturday so be sure to wear your AF shirts. Who knows, you might be able to brag about being “shot in the Trop”. Later, a “West Coast Crew” gathering is being held back at the bus. So all of you fans in the area check your tide charts; Saturday is going to be a better expo day than a fishing day.
If you’re interested in visiting the show on Friday, it will be open late (until 10pm). Wait… what is this? This just in…
News Flash: A pre-invasion party is scheduled from 5pm-10pm on Friday. Live entertainment, 2 for 1 Capt. Morgan and a free 2005 swim-wear fashion show!
There’s lots of other stuff goin’ on at the expo too. Addictive Fishing is giving away a brand new Minn Kota trolling motor! Come by the AF booth during the expo to enter. The drawing will be held Sunday but you do not need to be present to win. Also, seminars will be held by such personalities as Kenny Hyatt (featured in West Coast Round-up) and Capt. Van Horn (Featured in an upcoming 2005 episode).
Still having doubts about going this weekend? What if I told you that you could have all of this for the low price of $19.95? Still not good enough? OK, this is my final offer… $7.00 gets you in the door! And if you act now, I will even throw in a $3.00 off coupon. That’s right! $3.00 off! Such a deal! You can’t afford to pass this up! Just go to www.tampabayboatexpo.com (notice the nice, big front page mention of AF and Capt. Blair) and click the “Discount Tickets” logo to print out your very own coupon!
Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate’s life for me,

The Affects of Addictions 1/21/2005 |
“Ya don’t give Blair something you don’t want marketed.”
Ain’t that the truth! After last week’s show with the Lunker Sauce, phones have been ringing and emails have been flooding in. The Lunker Sauce Crank Bait Gel is not on the market yet but be patient. It is scheduled for release in late early/mid summer 2005.
Another “not on the market yet” bait will be airing in this week’s episode which was shot in the Amazon. HighRoller Lures are the bait of choice for those Mogan peacock bass. For years they have been throwing the 6.5” RipRoller with great success. Now HR is about to introduce a new smack-daddy bomb to the arsenal. Wait ‘til you see this thing! Rumor has it that Blair even named the new bait. The first time he picked it up, he looked at it and said, “Man, that’s the HighRoller *******!” and the name stuck. Well, I’m not going to spill the beans. You’ll just have to watch the show to see what it’s called. Due to unexpected schedule changes, Ken Howard from HighRoller was unavailable for comment but you can count your lucky scales that I will be bringing more information on HighRoller in the near future.
Later this month, for those of you in the “West Coast Crew”, the 2005 Mogan Tour is making an appearance at Tropicana Field January 27th through the 30th. Forum members are advised to report for support during the first 2005 homecoming. It looks like some of them are planning a gathering on Saturday the 29th so check the Mogan Lounge for more details.
Back in my own temperate zone,
J.C.

Behind The Bus 1/19/2005 |
Have you seen the pictures of the Mogan Bus yet? They do nothing for the “awe” effect that is felt when it is seen in person. 38 feet of plush interior equipped with the finest amenities needed to survive the grueling schedule that the AF crew has comin’ up this year. Image Graphics 2000 wrapped the outside of the bus with billboard size pictures of the Mogan Man and his boat with matching graphics on the trailer in tow. But all in all, it is not the bus itself that makes a story; it is what happens on the inside. Come take a ride with me, J.C., and get a view from the passenger seat.
Speaking of getting in and out of that seat… Blair and Patrice are tied at double goose eggs apiece. No, that’s not double zeros each; I really mean goose eggs. The TV cockpit above the co-captains chair sticks out just enough to smack an unsuspecting passenger that’s not paying attention and tries to move around while the bus is in motion. Maybe some dense padding and a couple of flags are in order for that corner? The padding and flags would be just another additive to all the bells and whistles this baby has.
Speaking of bells and whistles… allow me to put this in other words… Bells and whistles, and beepers and buzzers, and horns and sirens, and alarms and warnings, and… and… and!!! This coach does it all except close the refrigerator for you in the middle of the night if the door is ajar. Instead, it wakes everyone up so they can converse amongst themselves to see who is going to get up and close it. If I only had that kind of alarm on my fridge at home I’d be able to catch my sandwich thief!
Speaking of home… in my last report I mentioned that the heat at home works. The heat in the bus works great too (unless someone turns the propane off and forgets to turn it back on). If you want to know what that felt like, turn off your heat and open your windows tonight! It was enough to send someone to the hospital.
Speaking of visits to the hospital… Blair had to make an unexpected trip to the hospital while in Maryland. He suffered another flare up of Mycobacterium marinum.
*AF Fun Fact #194 “Mycobacterium marinum is relatively rare and is usually acquired from such activities as fish-handling. This bacteria does not grow at normal body temperature. That is why it remains localized to the cooler skin surface.” That must be why it flared up over the weekend. It was cold!
Speaking of cold… did I mention someone forgot to turn the propane back on and the heat didn’t work? Oh, maybe I did. OK… here is another cold story. Lucky, I love ya but I have to tell this story. I’m not saying where this quote came from but here it is…“The dog can’t poop!” Poor Lucky… walking around in the cold, wet grass is just like getting up in the middle of the night when someone forgets to turn the propane back on and sitting on the can!
Bringing you the scoop on the real poop,
J.C.

Road Trip!! 1/11/2005 |
The bus has left the station! The AF crew is coming to a town near you and their first stop is Timonium, Maryland! This long trip on the road is not at all what I am used to. I wonder if they get tired of me asking, “Can we stop here? I see water!”
With this being the maiden voyage, Kevin is spending his time testing equipment. Patrice is making business calls and tapping away on the laptop while Blair… Blair? Ooops! I knew we forgot to pack someone!
Ha, ha, ha! Just kidding! He is enjoying the plush seating of the new Mogan Bus and checking out all of the bells and whistles. The front passenger seat is equipped with a laptop table that cradles Blair’s new ‘puter, headphones, DVDs, and video games!
Traveling with this group is just like being on an episode of “Behind The Music”. The 38’ coach is nothing short of a rock’n’roll, fishing tour bus. The team says it is like being on an offshore fishing trip when they are trying to walk around.
“It’s like getting our legs for our 35’ WellCraft”, Kevin says.
They had to make an unexpected stop not long after launching this vessel; a detour off-course to find GPS software for Blair’s laptop. Raymarine has GPS coordination capabilities but they don’t have GPS software for the PC. This was the first unofficial stop of the trip. A quick call to Blair’s cousin, Shane, and he knew what exit to get off at. If this one stop is any inkling as to what to expect for an expected stop, this group is going to need a motorcade! The bus pulled into the parking lot of a big name electronics store and the crowd started gathering before the door was even opened!
Being on this trip, I also hear things that are not constantly mentioned on the show. For instance, did you know that Blair is just as much an offshore fisherman as he is an inshore fisherman? He loves being in 130 feet of water pulling up groupers, snappers, and “reef donkeys”. Reef donkeys? And I thought my parents named me funny…
I also heard someone say, “I couldn’t slap the smile off of Blair’s face when he stepped off the new Wellcraft.”
Well, it’s time to hit the pavement again. This pit stop is about over so check back in for more details about the new Wellcraft. Also be sure to check back for updates on the Maryland Mayhem and Maniac Madness.
Keep your flippers flappin’,

Not Your Average Table Spoon
1/6/2005 |
The 10th of January is breathing down the AF Crew’s neck. Last minute preparations are being finalized before their departure. This gives me a little time to venture out and play with some new toys. Almost casting distance from the studio is a body of water known as Tampa Bay. This time of year is perfect for redfish action so I loaded up a couple of rods and disappeared for the afternoon.
The tide was coming in and gently washed over the exposed tips of turtle grass. There were mullet starting to cruise the flats as I noticed a larger wake slowly making its way in front of the bow. Reaching down without a glance, I picked up a rod and flipped the line out. It soared through the air like a rocket launched from Cape Canaveral! I caught a glimpse of it before it hit the water and saw that I had just thrown the Mogan spoon.
The spoon hit the water and I had to retrieve it quickly if the quarry was going to see it. It fluttered back and forth combined with the tail that flowed behind the bait adding to the action. As it got closer, the red turned its head to look at it so I kept the speed going. As it passed in front of him, he thrust forward and nabbed the bait!
“Fish on!”
This is not any average spoon on the market. It is designed to fly, flutter, and finesse like no other. The signature Mogan Spoon features a tail made of special fibers that resist wear and tear that fish can put on a bait. The weight of the spoon is in the back so that when it is flying through the air it’s actually in the front. This helps keep it from doing summersaults, which allows it to fly further. The cradled backside also creates the action. It waddles from side to side instead of around in circles. This spoon can even be fished without a swivel. The flutter slows the rate of sinking allowing it to remain in the strike zone longer.
This is no line… Stay tuned for this week’s episode and see for yourself!
Your fish out of water,
J.C.

High Rollin’
1/4/2005 |
The AF crew is steadily preparing for the Mogan Tour these days. I feel it is best that I keep my fins in my pockets and find some place where I am out of the way until we shove off. That is when my real mission will begin. I will take this time to introduce some of the Addictive Fishing Sponsors. Without these guys, I’d just be another fish in the school.
Some sponsors have come and gone. These guys have come back again. This season AF is re-introducing High Roller Lures to the lineup. Skip Collins says that they recently moved the whole operation and hired on Ken Howard as Operations Manager. They had to step it up in order to keep up with demand!
For those of you that are not familiar with High Roller Lures, they are a hand crafted, hard wood, top water lures made in Crestview, FL. There is nothing like seeing a 15 lb snook lunging out of the water trying to inhale a 3” RipRoller. Like Skip always says, “Increase your odds, throw a High Roller”.

“Rude” Folks Rule!
1/4/2005 |
Many of you Mogan Maniacs have been wondering about the change to Evinrude motors. There were many reasons for making the switch. I think it was Mr. Producer Man (Kevin McCabe) that said it best in one word. “E-Tec!” AF is very conservation minded and these engines have the highest (or should I say lowest) marks when it comes to pollution control. There is no smoke and the carbon monoxide levels aren’t just below government standards; they are below future standards!
Check out the new line of outboards from Evinrude today.

Making Changes
1/3/2005 |
As you can see, the website is taking on a new look. On top of his already busy schedule, Dean has made time to add my own little corner on the home page. Now that I have my own little corner, let’s decorate!
New business owners pour their heart, sweat, and tears (not to mention everything they own) into getting the business started. Statistically, they say it takes 5 years for a business to mature and become self-sufficient. With that being said, I would like to congratulate the AF crew on making it to season number 5. The show has always been based on Florida fishing in the past. Now, there is more than just Floridians watching so we are going to have to send Capt. Blair all over the place!
This will prove to be a transitional and challenging year for the AF crew. It will be a chore to adjust to the busy tour schedule. Maniacs that have been with them for a spell may recognize some of the footage this season. I overheard them talking about using some “never before seen” stuff that was filmed during the making of past shows.
Addictive Fishing continues to grow bigger and better every year. This year is going to be no different! As AF viewers, we may not notice many of the changes on the screen. Most of the growth is behind the scenes and even I am the product of some of those changes. I was asked to tag along so that I could bring this type of information to you; the Mogan Maniacs. Needless to say, I took the deal… hook, line, and sinker!
The Mogan Tour is about to get under way, FLW fishing tournaments are coming soon, and more sponsors are taking notice of the impact this one show has been making in the industry. This season is being used to fine-tune and ramp up for an explosive TV season next year. The show is getting so big that it is now being shown on 2 networks. Maybe they just need a bigger network!
There is just so much to tell but I am running out of room. Stay tuned!
Your fish out of water,
J.C.

Maryland Bound 12/27/2004 |
Well Maniacs, the holidays have been unwrapped along with a few treats and hints.
The end of the year is near, and the AF crew will soon be taking a trip.
Preparations are underway; there’s lots of work to be done.
The studio has to be installed before the Mogan Bus can be gone.
Registration for Mogan Mania IV is coming up really soon.
The new season of AF will also be airing that same afternoon.
AF has another present for you; yet another small gift.
They are bringing you along; they are taking you with.
I will be your mild mannered reporter this season.
Bringing you stories, news, and even some teasin’.
My name is Jack Crevalle; yes it’s also a fish.
My parents thought they were being a cute little dish.
If you’re looking for updates with what’s going on, I’ll be sharing the scoop from here and from yon.
Your fish out of water,

Addictive Fishing's Captain Blair Wiggins Signs Deal with CDM
12/17/2004 |
“Mogan Man” Joins Costa Del Mar Pro Staff
ORMOND BEACH, FL, March 8, 2004 – Only the best will do for Mogan Man. That’s why Captain Blair Wiggins – known as Mogan Man, the outrageous host of the Addictive Fishing show, recently signed a comprehensive sponsorship program with Costa Del Mar Sunglasses. “I can see clearly now,” Wiggins said about joining the Pro Staff at Costa Del Mar, the premium polarized sunglass brand of choice for water enthusiasts. Wiggins will endorse Costa Del Mar Sunglasses, promoting the company’s premium line of performance-engineered sunglasses on his show, at key tradeshows and events across the nation.
A professional fishing guide for 12 years, Wiggins has brought incredible energy and charisma to the Addictive Fishing show, which airs three times a week on Outdoor Life Network. “Costa’s sunglasses are the highest quality out there, and when I’m wrestling with a Mogan on camera, I need the best piece of equipment for my eyes,” Wiggins said.
“We’re pumped about having Captain Wiggins on our Pro Staff,” said Chas MacDonald, President of Costa Del Mar. “His popularity on Addictive Fishing, love of fishing and great personality makes him a great fit for our brand.” Wiggins is conservation-minded, and dedicates time and efforts to protect the waters by practicing and promoting “catch and release” principles. “His conservation-driven efforts to promote recreational sport fishing and protect fish and their habitats mirror our beliefs at Costa Del Mar, and that’s just another reason why this is a perfect match,” MacDonald said.
