Secretary Rice To Travel to Indonesia and Australia.
From January 7-12, Secretary Rice will visit Indonesia and Australia.  The Secretary's visit to  Indonesia will focus on support for Indonesia's democratic development, and in Australia, the Secretary will participate in two Ministerial-level meetings.

Cuba
On December 19, Secretary Rice chaired a meeting of the Commission for Assistance to a Free Cuba. The President formed this Cabinet-level Commission in 2003 to explore ways the U.S. can help hasten and ease a democratic transition in Cuba. By May 2006, the Commission will prepare a second report to the President with both updated recommendations to hasten democracy, and an inter-agency strategic plan to assist a Cuban-led transition.

Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI)
MEPI is the Bush Administration's response to calls for change in the Middle East. This Presidential initiative, created in 2002 and funded with bipartisan support from the U.S. Congress, has brought the resources, experience, and determination of the United States to bear in an effort to bolster the reform movement in the Middle East.
