The Day After Tomorrow is a movie about survival against all odds. The title is dumb, the effects are wonderful and the rest is simply average. The tagline for this flick is "Where will you be?" Where will I be, the day after tomorrow? Not seing this again...

The story:

What if we are on the brink of a new Ice Age? This is the question that haunts climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid). Hall’s research indicates that global warming could trigger an abrupt and catastrophic shift in the planet’s climate. The ice cores that he’s drilled in Antarctica show that it happened before, ten thousand years ago. And now he’s warning officials that it could happen again if they don’t act soon. But his warning comes too late.

It all begins when Hall witnesses a piece of ice the size of Rhode Island break off the Antarctic Ice Shelf. Then a series of increasingly severe weather events start to unfold around the globe: hail the size of grapefruit batters Tokyo, record-breaking hurricane winds pound Hawaii; snow falls in New Delhi, and then a devastating series of tornadoes whips through Los Angeles.

A phone call from a colleague in Scotland, Professor Rapson (Ian Holm), confirms Jack’s worst fears: these intense weather events are symptoms of a massive global change. Melting polar caps has poured too much fresh water into the oceans and disrupted the currents that stabilize our climate system. Global warming has pushed the planet over the edge and into a new Ice Age. And it all will happen during one global super storm.

While Jack warns the White House of the impending climate shift, his 17 year-old son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) finds himself trapped in New York City where he and some friends have been competing in a high school academic competition. 'That 70s Show' Studio to Stay Independent

The television production company behind the current Fox hit "That 70s Show" and classics such as "Roseanne" has decided to remain independent.

Carsey-Werner-Man dabach said last May it was exploring a possible sale or other strategic alliance or partnership in the face of increased competition from large, studio-based producers.

The company said Tuesday it rejected various proposals brought to it by investment bank UBS.

Company principal Tom Werner said the partners "decided that independence remains the best way for us to navigate the changing waters of the television business."

Last year, Carsey-Werner-Mandab ach sold five shows to the major networks, including the situation comedies "Whoopi" and "The Tracy Morgan Show" to NBC.

Dreads and Braids Styles

Dreadlocks, a look created when sections of hair are twisted together with the hands starting an inch or so from the scalp, have become a more mainstream style for African-American hair. Dreadlocks are so named because hair "locks" into place and can't be untwisted. The only way to remove dreadlocks is to cut them. Use almond oil or beeswax to twist the hair; wash using a gentle, mild shampoo.

Braids offer a versatile way to wear your hair: in cornrows, French braids, braid extensions, or thick "dooky" braids. Don't pull the hair too tightly when braiding (to prevent hair loss and headaches). Loose braids have to be reworked more frequently, but won't break the hair or cause undue damage. Leaving braids in too long makes them difficult to take out. Wash braided hair once a week with mild shampoo.

Summer Hair Care Tips

Summer is here and with it come all sorts of fun outdoor things to do. It is also that time of year when we encounter the highest percentage of damaged hair, some of it beyond repair. Here are a few tips that may save you a lot of heartache and money.

1. Stay away from hair lightening products such as Sun In.

Most contain some form of peroxide or metallic crystals and can cause severe damage to your hair, not to mention such undesirable effects such as orange, green, or pink hair. Worse, if the product does contain metallic crystals and you then perm your hair, it may literally turn your hair into mush and wash down the drain.

2. Invest in a hair conditioner that contains a sunscreen.

If you can't find one and you are heading out to swim or tan, simply massage some of your sunscreen into your hair, it should wash out.

If you are not going to use a sunscreen because you want a deep tan quickly, try using safflower oil. It provides your hair with much needed fatty acids, and makes a great tanning oil to boot.

3. After a day at the pool, clarify your hair.

A clarifier is a stronger shampoo designed to remove toxins from you hair such as auto emissions and other environmental pollutants, as well as build up from some ingredients in over the counter shampoos such as silicon. A clarifier is too strong to use daily, but once or even twice a week is okay. It should also help remove chlorine from your hair, but if you are at the pool daily you will need to invest in a special shampoo to control chlorine.

Avoid 'green hair' before it begins. Thoroughly wet your hair before you dip in the pool and add a bit of conditioner too. Wash your hair immediately upon exiting the pool, BEFORE YOUR HAIR HAS A CHANCE TO DRY. These precautions alone will go a long way toward dodging the 'swamp look.'

Think about adding curl, angled or wispy bangs, or just a few wisps on the cheek area for this type of face. A cut that adds height at the crown is also a good idea.
