Lo-Buff Lo Ion Test Kits
The Hydrion LO-BUFF indicator system has color matches for each 0.5 pH units from
pH 5.0 to 9.0 from two units below neutral to two units above the neutral point. It
is now available as a Lo Ion Kit for very dilute or unbuffered solutions. Lo Ion Kits
give accurate readings in dilute or un-buffered solutions where "dip and read" test
papers may read low.
Any solution such as tap water, rain water or distilled water with < .1% of dissolved solid is called a low buffered or unbuffered solution. This kit is suitable for testing ponds and streams, tap water and similar fresh water
sources. Also tests waste water and other near neutral solutions.
Each Hydrion pH kit includes a 15' roll of test paper in a dispenser with pH color
charts and a capped sample tube in a polypropylene case.

 These kits are small enough
to fit in your pocket, and yet complete enough to give you reliable answers. No calibration is
necessary - no electrodes to break.
Do you worry about the water coming out of the tap? About your raw water supply? Are you concerned
with the quality of the boiler water, the process water or the cooling water used in your plant?
Or is the waste water your problem? Then you know the difficulties of pH measurement in the control
of these unbuffered solutions.
Testing of solutions with a low buffer capacity (less than that of 0.1% phosphate buffer), give
erroneous readings with pH test papers. The lower the buffer capacity, the greater is the error
- which can be be as much as 2 full pH units.
Now you can measure accurately, to 0.25 units, with our Lo Ion Test Kits. Determine the pH of
your water supply, your water sources and your waste water - quickly, simply and economically!
Directions For Using the Lo Ion Kits
1. Place a 3" strip of Lo Ion paper in the sample tube.
2. Fill the tube with test solution and cap it.
3. Invert the tube several times to insure uniformity of color.
4. After 1 minute, compare the sample tube with the color chart.
