Be more than just a tourist - be our GUEST!VICTORIA WATERFRONT (with plenty of free parking): Our backyard is a 120 acre lagoon, connected to, but sheltered from, the Pacific Ocean. The lagoon is designated a Migratory Bird Sanctuary and is ideal for safe canoeing, row-boating and kayaking; boats and mountain bikes supplied free of charge. We are surrounded by the Historic Fort Rodd Hill, the 1860 Fisgard Lighthouse and the Hatley Castle & Gardens. All of this is nestled amidst 600 acres of old growth forest and accessible by walking / hiking, canoeing, kayaking or cycling from our doorstep. Free use of our private dock, courtesy boats and mountain bikes are also included. Mile after mile of west coast beaches and hiking trails are set against the back drop of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains which tower over the shipping lanes of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Cycle or hike the Galloping Goose Trail connecting downtown Victoria to our greater Victoria regional municipality of Colwood to the west coast beaches of Sooke; a trail entry point is right here. Butchart Gardens are 15 minutes north. An excellent day-trip is a 2 hour drive up the scenic west coast to the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and tidal pools at Port Renfrew - the road ends there. Explore the world-class Royal BC Museum, enjoy British high-tea and allow your senses to be awed by Victoria's Parliament buildings which, in the evening, are outlined by thousands of lights which reflect in the waters of the inner harbour.
We do consider accepting children under 12 on a case by case basis depending on whether we have any existing honeymoons or anniversaries booked for those particular dates.
Victoria enjoys a moderate year-round climate. Yes that is a palm tree in the picture of our B&B at the top of the page. It never gets too hot here in the summer nor too cold in the winter. Our typical long stay guest in the summer months comes to Victoria from Texas and Arizona to escape the sweltering summer heat. In the winter many Canadians from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba follow the migratory birds to Victoria and spend part or all of their winters here to escape the chilling cold of their home provinces. In Victoria the golf greens are in fact green in the winter and we sail our boats year round. And the best part is it's all in Canadian dollars!! Summer, Winter, Fall or Spring ... Victoria is Canada's playground for all seasons. Spend a week and you'll come back for a month!
Whale watching in the summer months and bird watching in our mild winter months emphasize the year-round appeal of this destination rich in natural & historic beauty. We are the envy of the rest of Canada during our annual flower count in February. We invite you to allow yourself at least 4 days - ideally 5 to 7 - to step into another place and time to re-discover Victoria through the eyes of the locals - we live here!

Birds of a Feather B&B is in an ocean-front nature setting 15 to 20 minutes by car around the other side of the outer harbour from downtown - in fact we can easily see the buildings from here. Some visitors to Victoria might, however, prefer bed and breakfast accommodations in downtown Victoria, in which case it is our pleasure to highly recommend Rick and Sylvia's Fairholme Manor Bed and Breakfast in downtown Victoria.
