Photo: 12lbs 6ozs caught in Goreport bay on Lough Sheelin in June 2005 by Peter Donoghue of Edgeworthstown Co. Longford on a fly tied by Joe Kenna won him an Irish Specimen Game Fish award.

IRISH SPECIMEN GAME FISH AWARDS PUBLISHED FOR 2005

Now that 2005 has bowed out, we reflect on the season just gone. Also the Irish Specimen Fish Committee have published their annual report for 2005. The Shannon Fisheries Region featured for Lake and River Brown Trout. The 2006 season will get underway in February with most fisheries open by March 1st. We look forward to another season and wish all our anglers success and enjoyment. Meanwhile Michael Flanagan keeps us up to date on Salmon fishing news from the early season rivers.  TIGHT LINES IN 2006!

SALMON NEWS.....

Salmon anglers are still recording some fine catches from the River Drowes, Noel McIntyre landed a super 8lbs salmon on a worm from the Upper Mill Pool last week, also a 10lb fish on the worm came from the Stone Ditch, the happy angler was Bob Young. Once again we have some inside info for you lucky Midland salmon anglers, the forecast for the coming week, is looking good and it should suit fishing & anglers alike.
