auDA announces preferred tenderer for registry

Melbourne, 28 October 2005 - .au Domain Administration (auDA), the administrator of .au domain names, announced today that the preferred tenderer for the provision of registry services in .au second level domains, commencing 1 July 2006, is AusRegistry Pty Ltd.

auDA and AusRegistry will now finalise the Registry Licence Agreement and a further announcement (including information about the evaluation of the tenders) will be made once that agreement has been signed.

In its role as manager of the .au domain, auDA carries out the following functions:

auDA has won its TPA action against Domain Names Australia Pty Ltd, over mass mail outs during 2003.

Registry Request for Tender

auDA has issued a Request for Tender for a 4 year licence agreement for the provision of registry services in .au second level domains, commencing 1 July 2006. Questions about the RFT have now been received and answered.
