Our Commitment to Iraq
USAID assists Iraqis in reconstructing their country by
working with Iraq's interim government. USAID programs are implemented in
coordination with the United Nations, World Bank,
International Monetary Fund (IMF), Coalition country partners, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and
private sector partners.
The USAID Mission in Iraq carries out programs in education, health care, food security, infrastructure reconstruction, airport and seaport management, economic growth, community development, local governance, and transition initiatives.
The USAID Mission in Iraq implements programs in
four strategic areas:
- Restoring Essential Infrastructure
- Supporting Essential Health and Education
- Expanding Economic Opportunity
- Improving Efficiency and Accountability of

Accountability for Iraq Reconstruction Funds Managed by the U.S. Agency for International Development - 12/16/05 Accountability for Iraq reconstruction funds is fortified by the right mix of experience and outstanding teamwork between the field mission in Baghdad and USAID in Washington. Experienced controllers, contracting officers, and Inspector General staff have been in Iraq since 2003 working with USAID technical staff to help ensure program accountability.
USAID Support for Elections in Iraq - 12/15/05 Iraq held an election on December 15, 2005 to elect a permanent government that will lead the country for the next four years. This national election is an opportunity for all Iraqis to choose their first permanent government and to establish a precedent for democratic society in Iraq. Supporting Iraqis in the development and execution of free and fair elections is a principal component of the U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID's) support and assistance in Iraq.
USAID Mission Director Dawn Liberi Holds a Joint Press Conference - 12/08/05 In a joint press conference at the Convention Center with Ambassador Dan Speckhard and Brigadier General William McCoy, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Dawn Liberi highlighted the work of USAID in helping create a civil society program in Iraq which played a pivotal role in the political transition to participatory democracy.

إعادة اعمار العراق
تساعد الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية USAID الشعب العراقي في أعادة اعمار وطنهم عن طريق العمل مع الحكومة العراقية المؤقتة ، ويتم تنفيذ برامج الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية بالتنسيق مع الامم المتحدة UN ودول التحالف المشتركة والمنظمات غير الحكومية (NGOs) وشركاء القطاع الخاص . ومهمة الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية USAID في العراق تتضمن توليها برامج في مجال التعليم والرعاية الصحية وألامن الغذائي وأعادة اعمار البنى التحتية وانعاش الاقتصاد و مبادرات تطوير المجتمع والتنسيق بين المؤسسات الحكومية ومبادرات الانتقال .
وقامت بعثة الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية USAID بتنفيذ البرامج في اربع جوانب حيوية وستراتيجية في العراق وهي :
- اعادة العمل في البنى التحتية الاساسية.
- دعم المبادئ الاساسية للصحة والتعليم.
- التوسع في الفرص الاقتصادية.
- تطوير كفاءة ومسؤولية الحكم.
