Description Shipping Return Policy

R.M.S. Titanic was built at the Harland & Wolff shipyards of Belfast, Ireland. At the time she was a modern maritime miracle, known for her advances in luxury and engineering. She was launched on May 31, 1911. On her maiden voyage in April of 1912, she struck an iceberg and sank in the North Atlanitic. Over 1500 people perished that tragic night.

About the Ships

Old World Trading offers both a Captain's Line and an Admiral's Line of ships. The Captain's Line consists of replicas of original ships that are built from pictures and drawings. The Admiral's Line consists of scaled museum-quality models of the original ships. The Admiral's Line of ships are more detailed and built from blueprints similar to the actual ships.

  • The ships are 100% scratch built, put together piece by piece, similar to an actual ship. There are no model kits used here. The wood is cut from the trees.
  • All our ships are plank on frame construction (hollow hulls). The hull and deck are attached piece-by-piece to the ribs. If you look closely, you can see the nails used to secure the strips of wood to the internal ribs.
  • Some Admiral's ships utilize double plank on frame construction. Wood is cut piece by piece and put over the existing ship's hull to the water line. It's a lot of work and a fantastic look.
  • Appreciate the rigging, the stiching on the sails, and the fantastic craftsmanship.
  • The lines on the ship are working lines. They can be tightened and loosened.
  • The Admiral's Line ships sails can actually be furled or unfurled by tracing each working line, although this is not recommended unless you are an avid model builder.
  • Each ship comes with a solid wooden stand and a brass name plate.
  • Every ship comes with her history printed on antiqued paper along with a stand. This is displayed beside the ship.
  • The ships are imported from all over the world from master craftsmen who specialize in model boat building.

The boats are made from woods such as cherry, different types of teak, mahogany, oak, rosewood, ash, and other exotic woods. For example, The Cutty Sark is make from mahogany and teak, the Dutch Merchant is make from rosewood, and the Wendur and Valiant are made from blends of teak.
