2006 Spelling Bee Information

According to the Scripps National Spelling Bee guidelines, student participants must not have passed the 8th grade prior to February 1, 2006 and not have reached a 16th birthday prior to May 31-June 2, 2006 (National Spelling Bee competition).
Special Newspapers in Education Curriculum

Educators- From time to time NIE will purchase special curriculum units that can be used in conjunction with your everyday newspaper. This is in addition to the regular Education links that you find every Thursday during the school year. Below is our first purchase. It is available online only. Newspapers in Education (NIE) is a program which provides newspapers to classrooms throughout Alaska. Newspaper study increases student awareness about the world in which they live and helps equip them to impact their communities as Alaska's future leaders. Through the generous contributions of our corporate sponsors, the Newspapers in Education program is able to provide thousands of daily newspapers to students and educators across Alaska.
