1.         Introduction.

            The final total Booking picture in January 2006 was not as good as that for January 2005.  There were fewer bookings from Europe and more bookings from Asia in January 2006.

2.         Statistics.  

            The average number of visitors per day to www.nzhomestay.co.nz  is still increasing steadily.  In January 2006 the daily visitor rate was over 700, an 8 % increase on that of January 2005. 

            Over 17 % of our Hosts received at least one forward booking during January 2006.  In addition 1 Host received 13 forward bookings; 1 Host received 5 bookings and 4 Hosts received 2 bookings.    

3.         General.

            Some differences between January 2006 and January 2005:              Whilst an identical total number of individual bookings was received from the UK in January 2006 and January 2005, the total number of bed nights booked from the UK in January 2006 was 1/2 that of January 2005. 

            A similar pattern occurred from North America.  An identical number of individual bookings was made for January 2005 and January 2006, but the total bed nights for 2006 was only 2/3 that of January 2005.

            Bookings were received only from the UK in Europe in January 2006 compared to bookings from 4 European Countries in January 2005.

            However, bookings were received from 5 Asian countries in January 2006 compared to 2 Asian countries in January 2005 and the number of bed nights from Asia increased 4 fold in January 2006.
