Initial Disclosure Document1. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) The FSA is the statutory body that regulates financial services. It’s rules require us to give you this document. We suggest you use this information to decide if our services are right for you. 2. What range of products do we offer? We only offer products from a limited number of insurers. Please feel free to ask us for a list of the insurers and products we offer. 3. What service will we provide you with? British Insurance Limited offer a limited range of insurance products to choose from. We will provide you with a quotation for the cover you require together with comprehensive information to allow you to make an informed decision about the insurance cover we offer. Please remember however that it is your responsibility to ensure our insurance products are suitable for your needs. We always require written or email instruction to avoid possible misunderstandings. Please review all documentation upon receipt and let us know immediately if our insurance cover does not meet your requirements. 4. What will you have to pay us for this service? No fee is payable. 5. Who are we regulated by? British Insurance Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority under FSA registration number is 302674. Our permitted business is advising on non-investment insurance products. You can verify this information on the FSA's Register by visiting the FSA’s website www.fsa.gov.uk/register/ or by contacting the FSA on 0845 606 1234. 6. What to do if you have a complaint We pride ourselves on the quality of our service. Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first
£2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any
upper limit. 8. Duty of disclosure Please be aware that the information provided by you forms the basis of a legal contract between you and your insurer and that you have an ongoing duty to disclose all circumstances which may put your employment or health at risk or lead to a claim. It is therefore essential that all information provided is true, accurate and complete. Any omission, misrepresentation or failure to disclose an important change of circumstance could invalidate your insurance cover and could mean that a claim may not be paid. 9. Data protection Any information we hold about you will be treated as private and
confidential. We will only use and disclose the information in the
normal course of arranging your insurance cover. Under the Data
Protection Act 1998 you have rights of access to any personal information
