The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor
Vehicles is working with officials in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi
to allow their residents who, as a result of Hurricane Katrina are
in Florida, to obtain identification cards or driver licenses. Many
residents from the impacted states who were forced from their homes
are finding themselves without proper identification, which is needed
for many services from the Federal Emergency Management Agency,
including benefits.
Eligible residents from Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi can
go to any driver license office in Florida to obtain identification
cards. Florida will then contact officials in their home state
who will send pertinent information to Florida. Florida will then
issue an identification card or driver license to the eligible
individual.
Information on locations of Florida driver license offices is
available by clicking on one of the county links below.
See list of offices still
closed due to hurricane damage.
Notice:
Our on-line web appointment system, OASIS, is available for scheduling
appointments, however some offices remain closed following hurricane
Wilma.
