California's Home Study Driver Education Class

California's home study driver education classA service of Pacific High School. They offer online driver education and study at home correspondence driver ed courses that satisfy the California Vehicle Code driver education requirements for students to obtain a DMV learners permit and drivers license. Their driver education classes are accepted by the California DMV. Designed for all high school freshmen and sophomores in Sacramento, San Jose, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Orange, San Diego, Riverside and all other areas of California.

Another study at home course introduction:

A high school student spends over 30 hours each week in a classroom.

The State of California requires you to spend 30 hours studying Driver Education before you can obtain a Learners Permit.

Do you really want to spend an extra 30 hours in a classroom on nights or weekends or have to wait until your school finally offers Driver Ed?

Their drivers education courses let you study at home at your own pace, on your schedule, any time of the day or night.

They offer an online course that you can complete on your home computer. The computer scores your exams and your DMV Certificate of Completion will be mailed out the next business day. The system is designed to work well with PC's and Mac's and with any internet connection speed. No special plug-ins are needed.

They also offer a workbook course. Many students choose it if they have limited computer time at home or a very slow dial up connection. The study materials are mailed to you by Priority Mail. You can complete their course as quickly as you can read the class materials and fill out the worksheets. Your parent or guardian can supervise you while you take the final test. Most students pass the exam the first time. They want you to pass! They will correct your final exam and review your worksheets within one business day of receiving your completed materials. Your DMV Certificate of Completion will be mailed out the same day.

After you complete their course (or any other driver education course) you will have to pass the DMV written exam at your local DMV office to obtain your learners permit. They want you to pass! They do everything they can to prepare you for the DMV exam.

They are a year around private high school located in Sacramento and are open Monday through Friday all year long (except for major holidays). You can begin studying immediately.

They have had students from every major high school in California enroll in their course because they can offer it today while your local high school may make you wait until next semester.

New Study from Home Instead Senior Care Shows Lack of Communication among Family Members; Expert Advises Seniors to Talk with Family about Future Care.

Seniors

new study from home instead aenior care shows lack of communication among family members; expert advises seniors to talk with family about future care. OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2005--Almost one quarter (23%) of adult Americans are presently caring for or assisting an elderly parent or relative with their activities of daily living. Surprisingly, three out of four senior relatives, however, did not reach out and ask for help from family members, according to a new eldercare survey* done by Harris Interactive(R) for Home Instead Senior Care(R) (HISC), the world's largest provider of non-medical home care and companionship for aging adults. Of those people who indicated that they will have to start providing care/companionship for an elderly relative within the next five years, 70% have not spoken about this topic with the senior family member they anticipate needing to care for to see what their wishes will be regarding their future care and 76% have not discussed caring for this elderly relative with other family members.

New study from home style is good for the learners who want to get more knowledge and easy to get the resources.

According to Linda Rhodes, gerontolgist and author of Should Mom Be Left Home Alone? Should Dad Be Driving? (Penguin Group USA, 2005) and member of the Home Instead Senior Care advisory board, if you want to receive the kind of care, including non-medical, that's in your best interest and save your family from conflicts over "what's best for mom or dad," then take a few pro-active steps now, including:

-- Play out "What if Scenarios" such as:

-- IF you have a stroke or break a hip, what rehab or nursing home facility would you like to go to for recuperation?

-- IF you're sick and need home health care, what agency should be called?

-- IF it's not safe for you to live alone, what assisted living facility should we visit?

-- IF you can't get around and do for yourself but can still stay at home, what kind of services do you want to help you with daily living?

-- Create a "Rainy Day Folder" that places all of your directives in one place and share a copy with family members.

-- Fill out a Living Will so everyone will know what you want regarding any end-of-life decisions

-- Make a list of all your physicians and identify the hospital of your choice in the event of an emergency

-- Choose a Durable Health Care Power of Attorney so a trusted loved one can make health care decisions when you're too sick to make them

Dr. Rhodes warns, "Plan for the unexpected and share your plans with family members, NOW. Unplanned decisions are uninformed decisions, and in the heat of a crisis, they are rarely in anyone's best interest."

Courses allow home study

courses allow you study at homeLet the students study at home if they want to learn more knowledge. For University students who dream of classes they can ace without attending, independent and distance learning (IDL) courses could be the answer — if they have the discipline to be their own teacher.

Registration began Saturday for spring IDL classes. Students, after consulting their advisers, can register online through the independent and distance learning Web site (www.gactr.uga.edu/idl) or at the office in the Georgia Center.

IDL offers more than 145 online and print classes in which students complete a set number of lessons and a final at their own pace over a nine-month period. While certain requirements exist for obtaining University credit, the course grade counts toward a student's overall GPA.

Assigned instructors are available for any problems or questions.

Despite the relaxed academic schedule, students shouldn't expect to be able to breeze through the course with little effort, said Nancy Thompson, administrative director of IDL.

IDL encourages students to be dedicated, look at the course work and think ahead about the time the course will require, said Melissa Pettigrew, IDL webmaster and marketing coordinator.

"A traditional semester is a good time to allow (to complete the course)," Pettigrew said.

To ensure that students do not race through the material without retaining information, students are required to remain in the course for at least eight weeks with a cap on the number of lessons they can turn in each week.

While the quality of learning for lower-level courses is comparable to that of on-campus classes, some aspects of IDL courses are disadvantageous, said Todd Krohn, an adjunct sociology faculty member who teaches two IDL courses.
