Bringing pets to the UK

This site explains what you have to do to bring your pet dog, cat or ferret into (or back into) the UK through the Pet Travel Scheme (or PETS for short) without putting it into quarantine.

This site also tells you about quarantine in the UK for animals that don’t qualify for PETS.

What's new

3 January - British Airways World Cargo, Emirates Sky Cargo, GB Airways and Starflight Aviation have all annonced new routes for the pet travel scheme. Maersk have reopened routes from Billund and Athens into London Gatwick. For the most up to date list of all approved routes please visit our Routes pages.

9 December - If the entry of your dog, cat or ferret has been affected by the following: Argentina not being a qualified country, tattooing from Belgium and Poland (pedigree dogs only) or the use of a recombinant vaccine.

Qualified animals who are in quarantine due to these matters may be eligible for early release. For more information see our list of qualifying countries and the different procedures pages.
