The winter months provide the best storm watching along the Pacific north-west coastlines. Storm watching continues to grow in popularity as tourists come from around the world to witness the ocean in a fury as it pounds the coastline. Frequent winter storms whip the Pacific into a fury creating row upon row of giant waves that crash in spectacular fashion all along the coast. It truly is a sight to behold. An excellent vantage point is right here from the waterfront deck of Birds of a Feather Ocean-front B&B in Victoria. Located just west of downtown the waves can easily be seen pounding the ocean beaches from the safety of our deck protected from the open ocean by the Esquimalt Lagoon. A 5 minute walk is all that separates the spectator from ground zero where the waves pound the coastal shoreline, but be careful; winter storms can bring in 25 foot seas and high winds which can be very dangerous. Monster waves create a powerful roar which is enjoyed and can be heard throughout the area.
