Drivers take a driver improvement course for many reasons. In Florida, the most common reason is because you received a ticket and want to avoid being assigned points on your driver record. The course to avoid points is also known as Basic Driver Improvement (BDI). According to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles of Florida, studies show that taking a Driver Improvement Course does actuall make you a safer driver.
A common question we are asked is "How long is the course?" or "Do I really have to spend four hours?" As the name suggests, the state of Florida requires you spend four hours. The good news is that with the course online you can do a little at a time. As you move through your traffic school class our system saves your time. So you can logout at any time, come back and pick up where you left off.
Many people wait until the last minute to take their driver improvement course. This creates a situation where you cannot wait to receive your certificate via regular mail. In those cases you can order your certificate via email and get it the same day. Of course if you give yourself plenty of time you can request your certificate via regular mail which is free. Email delivery costs $9.95.
Once you receive your certificate it is your responsibility to deliver it to the clerk of court in the county where you received your ticket. This is what proves you completed traffic school. When the clerk receieves your certificate they will close your case and withhold adjudication, which means you will not be found guilty of the infraction and no points will be assigned to your driver's license.
If you have a Florida drivers license and get a ticket that is eligible for Traffic School we highly recommend you complete our basic driver improvement course. A single 3-point ticket may not seem like a big deal but it can put you just two tickets away from a license suspension and could drive your insurance up dramatically. Complete our simple online traffic school course - we guarantee it will be easier that you think and you'll like the results.
