The Ford 2006 GT and Shelby Cobra

At the international auto show in March Ford announced the 2006 Ford GT. The GT is a muscle bound sporty car that packs 550 horsepower and can hit a top speed of 205-mph. It's a street legal race car. The original GT burst onto the racing scene in 1966 and took the first three places Le Mans. The 2006 GT will be a limited edition and cost about $140,000. According to Ford Jay Leno purchased a GT500 for his collection.

Best Mustang Yet

For the rest of us there is the 2006 Shelby Cobra GT500. Ford calls it the most powerful factory Mustang ever. The new Cobra will have a 450 horsepower 5.4 liter V-8. With all that power you're going to need a good set of brakes and the GT500 boasts extra large 14-inch rotors on the front end that should do the trick. The suspension is all beefed up with upgraded shocks, and stabilizer bars to improve handling.

The interior of the Cobra is equally impressive with black leather on the dash, door panels and just about everywhere else. The cockpit is has a quality look and feel. There will be no mistaking this 2006 car as it shows off the Shelby name across the back and on the trunk tag and has a distinct Cobra on the front grill.
