Central California Area |
|
Called ‘the world’s breadbasket,’ the famous, fertile San Joaquin Valley is the main feature of this middle part of California. Almost exclusively farmland, it produces more food of more varieties than any other area in the world. A hundred miles to the east leads into the wilderness areas of the Sierra Nevada mountains which essentially split the area down the middle. An extraordinary sight to behold is motoring past seemingly endless miles of assorted crops in various growing stages. By Hugh Jeffries
