East Village NYC
East Village NYC was once considered outside the range of what a New York City real estate agent would show a customer. But now, it is on every real estate company's radar screen. Once known primarily for being a headquarters of Hell's Angels, punk rockers and drug dealers, it is now an enclave that young yuppies are more than willing to consider for a better price on a rental.
Now, young professionals, artists and college students with a desire to live in an edgier part of Manhattan call East Village NYC their home. Tompkins Square Park, once a metaphor for all that was seedy about the area, is now filled with strollers and dogs. The tattoo parlors and record stores are now making room for up-and-coming designers and upscale house wares. This area remains, however, as a place for those who love anonymity and can truly let their hair down.
There are still spotty areas along the East Village's eastern most boundaries so potential dwellers have to choose it with their eyes wide open. But it's still less expensive to live here than in other parts of the city.
