Portfolio Day
For the last three years, Pelco employees
have participated in Portfolio Day, an
effort that helps prepare 8th grade
students for the next chapter they
face – high school. Eight hundred Alta
Sierra Intermediate students presented
their best work of the year to business
professionals from the local community,
including Pelco’s own, Cheryl Bakholdin,
National Accounts Specialist. "Portfolio
Day is an invaluable experience for
the students as they are given the
opportunity to present their best work
as if interviewing for a job. It builds selfesteem,
communication skills and puts
in perspective what their own ambitions
are in life. It’s fun and I can’t wait for next
year." Because this event relies solely on
volunteers, Pelco’s participation helped
make Portfolio Day a success in 2005.
KVPT Phone Bank
On August 7, Pelco employees and
their families volunteered at a phone
bank during a KVPT Public Television
Membership Campaign. They answered
calls and took donations 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.
KVPT has four membership campaigns
a year to raise funds to provide quality
programming to inspire, educate and
enhance lifelong learning for children
and adults alike. Membership campaign
success is crucial to KVPT; member
donations make up over 65% of their
financial support.
Marjaree Mason Center
Marketing Data Service employees Alisa
Wright, Katharyn Overturf and Kori
Hanson are collecting old cell phones,
batteries and accessories in an effort to
help women fi ght domestic violence.
Programmed to only dial 9-1-1, these
donated phones are taken to the
Marjaree Mason Center and distributed
to battered women. For those donated
phones no longer in working condition,
an outside company will purchase them,
with the money going to the center.
So far, about 100 phones have been
gathered for the center and collections
continue. Hotel-sized personal hygiene
products are also being collected for the
center and can be donated in Marketing
Data Services.
A Passion For Giving
This year’s annual Vickie Garcia Birthday
Blood Drive was a huge success. Pelco

participated on August 31.

Pelco Remember's 9-11 Heroes With Poignant Tribute
The chilling music echoed across the Clovis, California
Pelco Campus September 11. The respectful silence of
the hundreds in attendance slowly gave way as bagpipes
poured out the notes to Amazing Grace while wreaths were
placed at the foot of the California Memorial.
