| Las Vegas Overview |
Las Vegas is without doubt the most flamboyant, novel and unique city in the world. Located in South Nevada the City did not exist 100 years ago and now attracts over thirty five million tourists every year. The city is split into two areas, a downtown area known as ‘Glitter Gulch’ and ‘The Strip’, both of these areas are packed to the rafters with the casinos and hotels which make Las Vegas what it is.
Unlike most destinations, what you see is what you get with Vegas. It is all Casinos, restaurants and hotels with neon lighting dominant on every street. There is fun for everyone in Las Vegas, as long as you don’t stop and think about it too much.

The Mirage – This hotel and casino is set inside a spectacular fake volcano which actually erupts every half hour. The effect is finished off with a surrounding lagoon and running waterfalls inside.
Circus Circus – One of the most famous hotels in Vegas, Circus Circus is incredibly over the top and renowned throughout the world. With circus acts amongst the entertainment this is somewhere which has to be seen to be believed.
Imperial Palace Auto Museum – This museum is located on the strip and has a fine collection of famous and rare cars.
Grand Slam Canyon – An amusement park in a giant dome, great for kids and the young at heart. Designed in a typically Las Vegas style the park has fake dinosaurs along with its rollercoasters and flumes.
Glitter Gulch – The place to be before ‘The Strip’ was built, Glitter Gulch was where the first neon signs were erected and it still has many of the most famous and best casinos.

Las Vegas City of Light Jazz Festival (April) – This one day Jazz festival takes place every year and features some of the biggest names in world music.
World Series of Poker (April – May) – With a purse of over two million pounds this is the richest and most prominent gambling tournament in the world. Taking place every year since 1949 at Benny Binnion’s Horseshoe casino it now attracts over 4000 players despite its £1000 entry fee.
