May 22, 2005 - How Long Does the 4-Hour Traffic School Take?
A common question we receive from Florida drivers is how long is the traffic school course? Since the name of the course is 4 hour basic driver improvement the question is usually asked to find out if there is any way to get through the course faster. Do you really have to spend the 4 hours? The answer is yes, you must spend at least 4 hours on the basic driver improvement course - the course for a ticket in Florida.
The online traffic school course for a Florida ticket is divided into an introduction, seven chapters, and a final test. Each chapter has a required amount of time you must spend before you can advance to the next chapter. As you advance through the class our system tracks your time. This allows you to logout at any time, come back and pickup right where you left off. You can spread the course out of over as many days or weeks as you like - just make sure you meet your deadline with the clerk of court.
Testing Your Driving Knowledge
When you have completed the traffic school course you will be required to take a 40 question test. The test is multiple choice and addresses the materials you were taught about Florida driving rules and laws. You can take the test over at no additional cost and you must get 32 answers correct. Most drivers pass it the first time.
Get Your Certificate
Once you have completed the class and test you will be asked how you want to receive your traffic school certificate. If you are not in a rush you can select first class mail. We mail certificates twice daily on business days. The certificate includes all your information including your name, address, drivers license number, citation number, and the Florida county where you received your ticket. You must send your certificate into the clerks of court office to receive credit.
