Multiday and Custom Alaska Sea Kayaking
Tours and Wilderness Trips
At Alaska Sea Kayakers, the itineraries for our Alaska sea kayaking tours are designed around the distance you would like to travel and the things you would like to see. We can base camp or strike our camp each morning. You can opt to cook for yourself or enjoy our gourmet backcountry fare. We can also find a compatible group for single travelers to join.
Our guides come from various naturalist backgrounds. They are skills certified, trained in coldwater rescue and Wilderness First Aid. While sharing their vast knowledge of the area, our guides will give you the most enjoyable and safest adventure in Alaska. A dry suit will be issued to each paddler. Our client to guide ratio on extended trips is 4:1.
Harriman Fjord
Discovered by the Harriman Expedition, this is truly one of the gems of the Sound and one of our favorite sea kayaking tours. Tidewater glaciers and steep rock faces provide the backdrop for your campsite. Paddle out and enjoy the massive calving glaciers. Cruise through ice-choked water past the nesting site of oystercatchers. Use the prevailing winds to your advantage as you paddle to one of several pick-up spots. Strategic stops along the way allow you to hike to your heart's content. Check some of the mines in the area and eat salmon berries on these amazing hikes. |

Nellie Juan
This is arguably the most diverse area in the Sound. The huge granite domes that surround Nellie Juan have earned it the nickname "little Yosemite". You may even see people rock climbing. Deep Water Bay has white sand beaches to rival any in the world. Kings Bay offers some great scenery and wildlife viewing. Whether you are a geologist or an amateur photographer, hiking in this area of the Sound is hard to beat. The head of Blue Fjord provides a great view of Nellie Juan Glacier, a short walk for the adventurous shutterbug. |

Whale Bay
Although there is some hiking to be had, wildlife is definitely the focus of this trip. You may see black bears, otters, and deer feeding in the tidal flats at the head of Orca Cove. From April through October, humpback whales feed in Whale Bay. The humpbacks can often be enjoyed from the comfort of camp. Of course, paddling beside humpbacks is truly a unique and humbling experience. |
