5 star ratingThe Ritz-Carlton, Coconut Grove

During the week, guests are primarily business travelers. On weekends, vacationers take advantage of the hotel's proximity to Coconut Grove's nightlife and its easy access to downtown Miami, Coral Gables, and Miami Beach. The hotel's Italian Renaissance style is inspired by nearby Villa Vizcaya, a lavish mansion built in the early 1900s and surrounded by formal gardens.

4 star ratingOmni Colonnade Hotel

Set in the financial district and opening onto the famed shopping/dining street called Miracle Mile, the hotel attracts business travelers and shoppers. The hotel dates from 1991, but it incorporates--and honors in design--the historic, 60-foot-high, Neoclassical-style Rotunda that developer George Merrick used as a real-estate sales office when he founded Coral Gables in 1926.

4 star ratingHyatt Regency Miami

A polished, white, automated piano maintains an up-tempo beat in the expansive atrium lobby, which has discreet seating areas with leather sofas and chairs and abundant artwork, including a giant sculpture by Yaacov Agam that nearly touches the ceiling. The hotel draws a mix of business and leisure travelers and often hosts the headliners performing at the adjoining James L. Knight Center.

4 star ratingMiami Marriott Biscayne Bay

Set at the eastern edge of downtown Miami, this 31-story hotel overlooks Biscayne Bay, one mile from Bayside Marketplace. Also close to the Port of Miami, the hotel draws both business and leisure travelers.

4 star ratingTHE FISHER ISLAND HOTEL & RESORT

It was developer Carl Fisher who turned Miami Beach into a holiday playground for sun-starved northerners back in the 1920s, but it was his friend billionaire William K. Vanderbilt who really fell in love with the little island refugium at the south end of SoBe. Exchanging his luxury yacht Eagle for the speck of land, he built the Mediterranean-style winter residence surrounded by guest villas which still forms the heart of the resort today. A short ferry ride from downtown Miami, the private club community now welcomes the elite for sporting holidays and luxurious conferences. Surrounding the original mansion are stylish cottages and guest houses, dating from the 1920s and faithfully restored in the original style. All have private patios, many have hot tubs and city or ocean views. With half-a-dozen fine restaurants and cafes, a golf course, tennis courts, pools, a private beach and yacht marina and the sybaritic Spa Internazionale on the premises, itÆs no wonder that some guests make their second (or first) home here.

4 star ratingThe Palms South Beach

Bombay fans gently whir overhead, towering columns grace the comfortable seating area, palm trees dot the landscape, and terra cotta floors add casualness to the spacious lobby. A boardwalk at the back of the property overlooks the hotel’s exquisite gardens and ocean. Business and leisure guests enjoy cocktails on the outdoor veranda overlooking the beach.

4 star ratingWyndham Grand Bay - Coconut Grove

Opened in 1983 and located 4 blocks from the heart of bustling Coconut Grove and 6 miles from downtown Miami, this hotel attracts both business travelers and vacationers. The hotel is busier on weekends than during the week, when it fills up with vacationers eager to enjoy Coconut Grove's nightlife and shopping. As in many of Miami's hotels, guests are an international mix.

4 star ratingThe Doubletree Grand Hotel on Biscayne Bay

This condominium hotel rises 42 stories above Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami. Two lions flank the hotel entry into the expansive, softly lit, Art Deco-styled lobby. Off the lobby is a shopping promenade with restaurants, stores, and businesses. Friday and Saturday nights, guests enjoy live music and drinks at the Blu Moon Restaurant and Bar overlooking the bay and Port of Miami.
