History of SALUD Medical Spanish Courses
AmeriSpan’s SALUD program dates back to the year 2000. At that time, an AMSA (American Medical Student Association) member from Ohio contacted us with a special request to design a
program geared for med students. The result: 20 medical students from 8 different states participated in
our first SALUD program in Ecuador. Since its inception, over 500 healthcare students and professionals from 44 US States and 3 additional countries (Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom) have participated.
SALUD Standard
International Medical Programs
AmeriSpan continues to offer the
same style program that was offered in
year 2000. These medical Spanish
programs are designed for groups of
10-20 participants. They have set start
dates in the spring and/or summer
months. These programs not only give you
the opportunity to learn the language
and see first-hand the medical system of
another country, but you will also meet
healthcare students and professionals
from other parts of the USA, Canada and
elsewhere. Prices, dates, and
itineraries for summer 2006 are in the
process of being updated and will all be
available in September, 2005.

SALUD
Independent International Medical Programs
Independent Programs offer the flexibility to start any Monday of the year. With the independent programs, you won’t have the interaction with other SALUD students as you would in the Standard programs and may be the only SALUD student. You will still interact with
non-SALUD students studying the language. Also, SALUD Independent programs are offered in fewer locations, may have less lectures and activities, may or may not have more hands on work and are typically a bit more expensive than the SALUD Standard programs.

SALUD Customized
Group Programs for Healthcare
Professionals - Several groups of medical students over the years have asked us to design a slightly different program to meet their group’s needs. Maybe they are looking for more emphasis on language, or a different destination. Custom SALUD
international healthcare programs are available for groups of five or more who have slightly different needs than what the Standard & Independent programs have to offer.
