Opening Date: Sunday - July 10, 2005 @ 6:00 a.m.
Fishing is only allowed between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. (06:00 to 23:00)
Season is from July 10th to
July 31, 2005 ending at 11:00 p.m. on the evening of the 31st
NOTE: An Emergency
Order has been issued by the ADF&G to liberalize the hours of the Kenai River personal use dip net fishery to 24 hours
per day, beginning at 11:01 p.m., Tuesday, July 19. Read it Here
Open Area From Shore:
From the commercial fishing markers located in Cook Inlet north and
south of the river mouth upstream to the downstream edge of the Warren Ames Bridge
on Bridge Access Road. Except for the area of the north shore from a ADF&G marker below the terminus of Main Street to the ADF&G markers near the Kenai City Dock.

Open Area For Boats:
From the ADF&G marker near the Kenai City Dock
upstream to the downstream edge of the Warren Ames Bridge on Bridge Access Road.
Kenai River Boat Launch Area:

Access is from Bridge Access Road - Follow the signs between Carlisle Trucking
and the Warren Ames Bridge. Cost for launching has risen to $15.00 per day or
you can obtain a season pass for $157.50 from the City of Kenai. See Photos of

Boat launch facilities are being developed at the new Kenai
Landing and word is it will be open on Monday July 11th, 2005. Cost for launching will be
the same as the Kenai city dock at $15.00. See Photos of the Kenai Landing boat launch.
Dip Net Permits:
2005 Personal Use Dipnet Permits are available at most authorized
ADF&G licence venders in the Mat-Su, Eagle River, Anchorage and Kenai Areas. There is
no charge for the permit but you must complete the information on the card and
return it to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game no later then August 15th of this year even if you do not fish at all.
Important Notes About Personal Use Fisheries:
1.) Personal use fisheries are open to Alaska
Residents Only. Non residents may not participate in these fisheries. Non residents may not handle
any of the gear or operate a boat that is being used for personal use fishing.
2.) Anglers ages 16 - 59 are required to have in their possession a valid resident
sport fishing license to be involved in personal use fishing.
3.) Be sure to read the regulations pertaining to Personal Use Fishing on the Kenai
River prior to arriving for this fishery.
4.) A person MAY NOT posses salmon taken under
a personal use salmon fishing permit unless both tips of the tail fin have been
IMMEDIATELY removed from the salmon. Note: Immediately means before concealing the salmon from plain view or transporting
the salmon from the fishing site.

Campground at the City Dock,
New for this year we have noticed that there is an RV park adjecent to the west
site of the city dock. Entry is from the boat launch overflow parking or from Bridge
Access Road.
