Chinese mythology
The names of deities and places in the Chinese mythology area are transcribed according to the pinyin system of romanization. This system was officially adopted by the People's Republic of China in 1979.
The names according to the previously standard Wade-Giles system, which is still widely employed, are provided in each article. There is a conversion chart available from pinyin to Wade-Giles.
