The Corporation of Delta is the area between the south arm of the Fraser River and the US border, west of Surrey. Mainly agricultural, there are several residential pockets, North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen. Industry is pretty well restricted to bordering the Fraser River and the Strait of Georgia. Commercial activity is centrered close to the residential areas.
Delta attractions are many, mostly relating to nature (Burns Bog, Reifel Bird Sanctuary, Boundary Bay, parks along the Fraser River) but include history and heritage (Ladner), architecture (Alex Fraser Bridge), fun (waterpark), transportation (Delta Coalport, Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal) and alternate lifestyle - houseboats (Canoe Pass Sea Village).
Of all the communities in the Lower Mainland Delta probably has the most relaxed atmosphere because it seems to be the least crowded.
The following images cover some of the points of interest worthy of a visit. For a wonderful day away from it all (whatever that may mean) the western part of Delta is a good choice.
