PACE President joins calls for closure of Guantanamo

Human Rights Commissioner presents report on France
[15/02/06 11:30:00] Alvaro Gil-Robles presented on 15 February his report on respect for human rights in France to the Committee of Ministers today. Following an official visit to France by Mr Gil-Robles in September last year, the report identifies a number of shortcomings regarding the administration of justice, detention conditions, the treatment of arriving foreigners, asylum and expulsion procedures, discrimination and xenophobia, domestic violence and trafficking in human beings. It concludes with recommendations to the French authorities. (more ...)

Council of Europe launches ''Universal Leonardo'' Art Exhibition
[16/02/06 17:00:00] The universal heritage of Leonardo da Vinci is the theme of the 28th Council of Europe Art Exhibition. Five different venues will host the ''Universal Leonardo'' series, which opens in Florence (Italy), on 27 March with an exhibition on ''The Mind of Leonardo'' . Biodiversity in Europe: 4th Intergovernmental Conference
[17/02/06 09:00:00] This conference, hosted by the Ministry for Culture of the Republic of Croatia, will take place from 22-24 February at the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
