LCD televisions use a liquid crystal display (LCD) technology to produce high definition images.  The typical LCD screen size ranges from 24 to 46 inches.

Pros and Cons of High Definition LCD Televisions

Advantages Disadvantages
LCD TVs are extremely thin and light-weight – can be hung on a wall Size of screen is significantly smaller than plasma and projection HDTV televisions.
LCD TVs are more energy efficient than other HDTV technologies Some LCD TV sets don’t handle motion very well (e.g. fast sports)
Picture is bright and crisp with deep blues and reds Not as good as High Definition CRT televisions when displaying black levels.
Supports a wide viewing area Relatively expensive for comparatively small sized HDTV sets
Technology is reasonably reliable Image may dim when you angle away from TV set
Some LCD High Definition TVs can also serve as  computer monitors  

Companies that manufacture LCD televisions include: Sony, Toshiba, Philips, Zenith, Samsung, Panasonic, Polaroid, RCA, BenQ, Gateway, JVC, Sharp and Dell.
