DLP televisions use a technology called digital light processing that uses an optical semiconductor.  The chip contains more than 1 million microscopic mirrors that move back and forth to generate an image.  The typical DLP screen size is from 14 to 46 inches.

 

Pros and Cons of High Definition DLP Televisions

Advantages Disadvantages
Sharp and extremely bright display Not thin enough to hang on wall
Light weight Relatively pricey for big screen models
Less expensive than LCD or plasma TV sets Image can dim when you angle away from screen
Reasonably thin Backlight bulb can require periodic replacement (but then you have a relatively new set)
