The Ritz-Carlton, Bali, is the first Asian resort for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., opened November 29, 1996, Built on 70 hectares (173 acres), the 323-room resort hotel is perched on a bluff overlooking the Indian Ocean. It is four stories, following the basic Balinese architecural principles that no building should be higher than coconut palms. The hotel includes 36 one and two-bedroom villas. The majority of the guest rooms have ocean views. Located in Jimbaran in Southwest Bali, eight degrees south of the equator, the hotel is a 15-minutes drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The two-tiered, infinity edged swimming pool has a water fall leading from one pool to the next, flowing over a walk through or swim-up grotto that houses a 42,000 litre (11,000 gallon) salt-water aquarium filled with indigenous marine life.
Sporting activities include the first championship standard 18-hole golf putting course on the island. The 6570-yard course, total par 64, was designed by Ronald Fream and is the first at any Ritz-Carlton Hotel or Resort worldwide.
Active vacationesr ca also utilize the Tennis Pavilion with three lighted courts; Spa Consisting of gymnasium, sparate men's and women's sauna. Turkish Baths and massage rooms. Billiards, table tennis and mountain bike of all sizes are available.
Children enjoy The Ritz-Carlton Kids playground and program of supervised activities that shares the world of Balinese art, drama and tradition. A separate swimming pool with a water slide is adjacent to the main pool and Pasir sand sunning terrace.
Balinese Design
Alang-alang thatched roofing, brightly colored Balinese doors, limestone carvings, intricately woven mats, slate and marble floors are part of the hotel's distinctive Balinese design. Antiques and artifacts from the Indonesian islands - Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Lombok, the Moluccas, Irian Jaya and Bali - decorate the public and private areas.
Each of the 36 thatched-roof villas is enclosed with a volcanic rock and limestone wall that surrounds the villa on three sides. Guests enter through a slim ornate Balinese door opening into a garden courtyard.
The two-bedroom villas and private gardens encompass 400 square metres (43,000 square feet). The one-bedroom villas are 298 square metres (3,200 square feet). Windows on three sides offer panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.
In 30 villa compounds, plunge pools facing the horizon have infinity edges that seem to spill water into the ocean. Each villa's two-person bathtub offers views of both the ocean and the garden's fily ponds.
Every villa includes a bale bengong, a traditional. open-air lounging area. The raised platform, carved from dark coconut palm wood and covered by a thatched bamboo-framed room is a perfect place to watch the sunset.
The Balinese design extends te Canang Sari, a wedding gazebo constructed of coconut palm wood and limestone flooring, with panoramic ocean views.
Guest accommodations include 33 guest rooms and suites on The Ritz-Carlton Club. The Club's handsomely furnished lounge features five food and beverage presentations daily. Staffed by professional concierge, the Club offers privacy and pampering.
Langit Theatre, an open-air dinner amphitheatre, allows guests to dine under the stars while watching traditional Balinese entertainment. These ancient performances tell timeless tales through dance, music and song. The 130-seat restaurant is terraced to offer each dinner unobstructed views of the stage, orchestra and Indian ocean beyond.
The resort's property is I'andscaped to mirror the surrounding native tropical flora. Terraced lawns, lily ponds and sculpture fountains cover the grounds. Bougainvillea, monkey pods and frangipani bloom year-round. Banana, breadfruit, ironwood and coconut trees offer cool shade.
Open-Air Restaurants
All restaurants and lounges at The Ritz-Carlton, Bali are open to the ocean breezes and scent of tropical flowers. Padi restaurant, whose pavilions appear to "float" on separate lily ponds, features a predominantly Asian menu. Sami-Sami is a casual, cliffside restaurant offering innovative Mediterranean cuisine. Damar Terrace offers fine cigars, beverages and hors d'oeuvres throughout the day, as well as afternoon iced teas. Kisik Bar and Grill is steps from the beach fronting the hotel and serves fresh and simply prepared seafood.
