oil-rig-employment and shipping-employment
The latest oil-rig-employment and jobs supplied by selected agencies for suitably qualified and experienced Marine Electrical and Electronics personnel and Marine Engineering personel
Looking for maritime-employment or start a new career?
The bottom line is that it is not as easy as some oil-rig-employment and shipping sites would have you believe, that you can simply just walk onto an offshore installation into a new job. Offshore installations are dangerous places, safety is what we all live and breathe, and it is not a training ground for someone who doesn’t have basic oil-rig-employment qualifications.
In general people with a relevant trade in mechanical or electrical or electronics discipline can sometimes get a start, however experienced hands is what most companies chase. Also before you work on or get oil-rig-employment on offshore installations you will have to have a current offshore Medical Certificate (the requirements vary between countries here), a current Offshore Survival Certificate and probably a Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) Certificate without which you don’t get to fly offshore. Some companies may invest this in you and most will not, so invest in it yourself. When job offers come they generally entail rapid mobilization of just days if not hours. If you want to have the chance to take up these jobs you need to have your passport with at least 6 months validity, a current medical certificate (in UK this is ENG1), current vaccinations, STCW required survival and for offshore oil-rig-employment, a current HUET certificate, for US based cruise ship positions the right Visa and last of all have your bag packed ready to go.
Ships must, by maritime law, be manned with appropriately qualified and competent seafarers, and that is what STCW 95 is all about. If the maritime employment website can’t show real vacancies chances are they aren’t filling any. If a website offers you a job finding prospect without offering a specific vacancy, especially in the Cruise liner market or selling you a guide to employment then exercise caution as you will probably lose the money without any real gain or job opportunity.
Commercial shipping is a very tightly regulated industry that must conform to international and national standards and which include navigation, engineering, operations, ship construction, equipment, safety, radio communications, pollution prevention, security, manning levels, and seafarer qualifications and training. International standards are defined by a United Nations Agency called the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The IMO convention dealing with seafarer qualifications and training is known as STCW which stands for Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.

Offshore Oil-Rig-Employment
TBA
Scam Alert - Offshore Use caution on the Oilcareer.com website for oil-rig-employment. I have had several emails complaining about this oil-rig-employment outfit. This website and company is somewhat of a sham, and I know because I put them to the test as have several of my colleagues. These were people with a superb 20 years plus offshore oil and maritime backgrounds with past top jobs, history and background and they didn’t even get a response for any oil-rig-employment. These sites make a whole lot of very false oil-rig-employment promises or lead you to believe it’s easy, they take your money and then they email shot or spam a whole bunch of companies with your CV/resume, who in general are unrelated to your discipline or target work area and then they simply never talk to you again after having done that. It is much better to go and register on the other various oil-rig-employment websites, and go to a real oil-rig-employment agency who supplies people according to specific project job vacancies. I have a couple of friends who are HR managers in the industry and they told me they don’t even open or look at the emails from companies like this, so you have been warned!
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME WITH CV/RESUME, EMAIL THE COMPANY OFFERING THE JOBS!
The Banner Link below for Expats Direct is well worth visiting and registering on for oil-rig-employment. They really do have a lot of vacancies every day
