Computer Information Systems Analyst (#009693). Range: 4P2. Posted: 01/30/2006. Description The Computer Information Systems Analyst (4P2) reports directly to the Senior Technologist and/or Team Lead within the Computer Resource Consulting unit of Information Technology Services (IT Services). The Contract Support Team is a fee-for-service desktop and local server-consulting group with expertise in Windows and/or Mac OS servers and desktops. This support is provided in partnership with other IT Services to support the University?s mission of teaching, learning, and research; to be recognized as a center of excellence by clients; and to continually assess the quality of operations and services.
This position is with the CRC (Computer Resource Consulting) unit of IT Services. The successful candidate serves as a member of the consulting staff. The Computer Information Systems Analyst (CISA) provides contract (fee-for-service) desktop and local area network support to University departments. He/she also functions as a technical team member within CRC and will work closely with a Senior CISA Consultant/Team Lead or Computer Resource Associate on day-to-day work priorities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those noted below:
The Computer Information Systems Analyst (hereafter CISA) Provides standard contract desktop and local area network support and analysis to university departments. The CISA serves as a technical expert regarding all aspects of desktop computer support. This position is responsible for responding to customer calls, troubleshooting, resolving problems, and answering questions related to network connectivity, software, and hardware. Install, maintain and troubleshoot printers, scanners, handheld PDA's and other peripherals. The CISA has technical knowledge of computing and networking systems and has considerable experience in one or more computing and/or information technology areas. He/she serves as second tier support to the contract client and will function as team member within the school or department depending on the size or complexity of the contract.
He/she perform basic server administration (account maintenance, permissions, print queue) on Windows/Mac OS servers. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with Windows and Mac OS based operating systems, network connectivity, file sharing, and printing, and basic application functions (PC-Stanford, MacStanford). Work on technical projects requiring expertise and creativity in analysis and deployment of technology. Investigate and test new tools, systems, techniques and software products for possible use in client area requiring integration with departments and/or University systems. Maintain standards and procedures documentation. Attend meetings, tend to administrative functions, and perform other duties as assigned. Stay current with University information system/desktop standards and initiatives. Research, recommend, and implement solutions for customers to meet individual business needs and help ensure compatibility with University systems/architecture.

QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years experience in technical consulting/user support and demonstrated expertise in support of Windows and Mac OS based operating systems and a variety of software applications. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and fix software, hardware, and networking problems. Experience with Outlook 2003 and Exchange Server preferred.
Strong general knowledge of application software (e.g. Microsoft Office, WWW browsers, XX, etc.). Demonstrated ability to work calmly, professionally, and with a strong focus on client service. Demonstrated ability to adapt to and work within a team. Ability to work on multiple projects and under strict deadlines. Demonstrated customer service skills. Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral).
