Our lawyers participate in a wide variety of efforts to promote diversity within the legal profession, education, and the community at large.
- Dallas Partner Tom Leatherbury will serve as a member of the ABA Forum Committee on Communications Law Pipeline Project in 2006.
- Joe Dilg, Vinson & Elkins' Managing Partner, participates on Houston's CEO Diversity Roundtable, a program sponsored by the BOLD Initiative, an organization promoting business opportunities for leadership diversity in cities throughout the United States.
- Barron Wallace, a partner in our Public Finance Section and Diversity Committee Chair, participates on the Houston Diversity Leadership Forum, an organization made up of those who lead diversity initiatives within their respective organizations. He has also recently agreed to serve on the Kanter Myers Advisory Council on Race in Large Law Firms.
- Hank Coleman, a partner in our Public Finance Section, participates on the board of the R.I.C.E. TMS Scholarship Fund, (Recruitment into Collegiate Education through Minority Scholarships). Hank and other Vinson & Elkins lawyers assisted the organization with its incorporation in 1999. Its mission is to raise merit scholarship funds for highly motivated minority students with demonstrated leadership potential who will remain in Texas for their college education and attend Rice University.Vinson & Elkins has provided a scholarship for one minority student each year since the program was founded.
