Fun Facts about Boquillas Canyon:
Temple Canyon is sometimes the start of the Lower Canyons
eight-day trip, but this first eleven miles makes for a great overnight trip
for canoes. This section is part of the congressionally designated Wild and
Scenic Section of the Rio Grande.
Temple Canyon is named for the prominent
bluff on the Mexican side named and photographed by the Hill expedition in
1899. There are a number of Native American sites along the river and some
really nice camps that afford some good hiking.
This section is excellent for those that
want to paddle and stretch their legs by exploring the remote reaches of
Northern Mexico.
