Canyoning

What is canyoning?

Well it's basically making your way down a canyon, which may include jumping, sliding, abseiling, swimming, scrambling and any other way of working your way down. These pictures were kindly given to us by Tall stories which are below and have a advert which also explains what canyoning is a little better and also shows what sort of courses you can take if you go through a adventure company. This looks like a great sport and something which we are want to try in the summer 2005. This has to be the best way to travel down a canyon surely! We will be adding more to this section in the near future so stay tuned.

If you have tryed this sport and have some of your own pictures then drop us an email and we will add them to the site.

Available in one week multisport holiday, where this sport is just one of a range on offer in - Austria, France, Corsica and Mallorca. Also available as part of the Awesome Foursome weekend in Austria and the Andalucian Action weekend in Spain.

Austria - Following the course of the Seisenbergklamm we swim, abseil, slide along water toboggans, scramble over boulders and jump off cliff edges into pools of Alpine melt water below. Definitely not for the faint hearted! 1/2 day.

Corsica - This mountainous area is peppered with valleys and gorges ideal for canyoning. Don wetsuits and climbing harnesses and scramble through sun-drenched gorges of pink granite, over waterfalls and down water-smoothed natural toboggan runs, for the ride of your life. Beware of the adrenaline rush! 1/2 day.

France - The very latest sport, but beware, this is wild! Follow the course of a river along its gorge, fully equipped in wetsuit, helmet and climbing harness, and when you get to a waterfall you can abseil it, jump off or scramble down. Or use it like a natural toboggan and shoot over the edge! 1 day.

Mallorca - Following in the ancient footsteps of Spanish monks, we climb a forgotten trail deep into the mountains. From here we start our descent - navigating the canyon down the course of a dry river by all possible means - scrambling, climbing and abseiling! 1 day.

Check them out for yourselves.
