Ian Baylis - Captain of Sailing Charter Yacht 'Buzzy B'
Growing up by the coast, Ian started sailing at an early age. At 19 years old, he became qualified and turned his passion into his career. Now 28, his professional experience has included some 40,000 nautical miles sailing around most of the world's oceans. Prior to joining Buzzy B, he was on a yacht with a challenging and interesting itinerary which included a trip from France to New Zealand via the Panama Canal, reaching New Zealand in time for the 2003 America's Cup Challenge.
He has been aboard Buzzy B since October 2003 and has been very much involved in completing her refit. He has a great interest in her technical systems and is also the Engineer onboard gaining qualification in this area as well.
His other interests include mountain biking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, scuba diving and experimenting in the galley!
Albert Massip - Mate of Sailing Yacht 'Buzzy B'
Albert graduated to yachting 20 years ago after a career on the technical side of the opera. His experience has been gained primarily as a 'Preparateur' on the French racing scene including the last 3 Vendee globes and the ORMA 60 trimaran circuit.
He has sailed around the Mediterranean coastline extensively throughout his career and has competed in several quite unique races in multihulls.
He has worked alongside Ian for some time now as he was part of the crew that did the trip down to New Zealand.
His personal interests include music, mountain biking and the opera.
Albert intends to use his time aboard Buzzy B to enhance his experience and further qualification with an ambition to become a Captain in the future.
Louise Clark - Stewardess/Deckhand of Buzzy B
Louise grew up on the coast in Australia, enjoying many different aspects of lifestyle it offered, including dinghy and small yacht sailing, sailboarding and surfing.
Her career has predominantly involved promotions, sales and marketing. While working as Sales Manager for a dive and cruise company in Port Douglas (North Queensland) she decided that her actual desire was to spend more time on the boats, so then made her way to the Mediterranean to seek employment on a sailing yacht.
Her goal now is to work towards enhancing her qualifications in the yachting industry, and to see the world from the other side of the coastline. As stewardess, she aims to share her passion for entertaining and the exceptional presentation of the yacht.
Elizabeth Johnston - Chef on Buzzy B
Having spent 13 years working in banking in London, Elizabeth decided that it was time to leave the city environment and see some more of the world. After having completed courses at Leith's School of food and wine, Rick Stein's Seafood school and a spell at the Thai boat house restaurant in Thailand, Elizabeth headed for the Mediterranean. She worked a season onboard S/Y Imagination, a 20m Oyster sloop, spent 18 months onboard S/Y Persistence a 30m Scorpio Ketch. She then spent a season on M/Y Double up before returning to sailing yachts and accepting the position on Buzzy B.
She looks forward to impressing Buzzy Bs guests with her wide-ranging culinary skills. Her specialties are Mediterranean cooking; she especially likes to cook fish and of course delicious Thai food.
Her interests include photography, scuba diving, food and wine.
