The Little Tree is a charming and intimate
four room bed and breakfast.
Built with real adobe mud bricks and mortar in 1990, you will have all the benefits of modern construction
while still in an
authentic adobe hacienda that is re-mudded every year! The center garden courtyard's portal, with comfortable rocking chairs and benches, provides the perfect place to
take in our vast 360* views. Light years from reality, our rural setting allows the
quiet to seep into your bones.
Although secluded, we are still an easy and scenic 5 to 10 minute drive from the
wonderful restaurants and galleries that are on the northside of Taos. |
Frommer's
2005 Guide to Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque :
A Frommer's Find. "Little
Tree is one of my favorite Taos bed-and-breakfasts, partly because it's
located in a beautiful, secluded setting, and partly because it's
constructed with real adobe that's been left in its raw state, lending the
place an authentic hacienda feel. Visiting hummingbirds enchant guests
as they enjoy a scrumptious breakfast on the portal."
New
Mexico Magazine, May 2005.
"A stellar B&B, the moderately priced
Little Tree scores high marks - it rests upon a slope of sagebrush near
Arroyo Seco, affording guests eye- popping views of the Sangre de Christo
mountains to the east and the Rio Grande Valley to the west. The four guest
rooms in this authentic adobe house surround a hummingbird-happy garden and
contain Saltillo-tile floors and rustic but refined Southwestern
furnishings."
New
Mexico's Best: "...especially
fond of The Little Tree...It's a place to
slow down and
enjoy the quiet of the country, and the 360 degree
views are really spectacular."

The
2003 Unofficial Guide to Bed and Breakfasts and Country Inns in the
Southwest: ****1/2
"On a rural road midway between the Plaza in Downtown Taos
and Taos Ski Valley to the north, Little Tree is built with Taos
Pueblo-style exposed adobe rather than completely covered with more durable
adobe-colored plasters and stucco. The hosts, Ritz-Carlton refugees raising search-and-rescue dogs, claim calmer sleep comes with exposed
adobe. 'The buildings actually breathe', they say. Many interior walls have
an old-fashioned "alise" finish, a mixture of mud, wheat paste,
straw
and mica, adding glitter and sparkle. Exterior walls receive yearly maintenance
to keep from washing away."

From Our Guest Book:
"Here's the deal: Views of
the valley and the mountains, genuine adobe, a private setting, abundant (but unobtrusive)
hospitality, Black Magic (an amazingly, affectionate cat), gourmet breakfasts
(truly) that make lunch superfluous, secluded patios, fireplaces in almost
every room, 360 degree sunsets, four o'clock tea, amazing stars, welcoming sherry, homemade chocolates, Belgian
sheepdogs, and Maggie and Gordon, impressionarios of local lore and regional
dining. Try this mud house and settle into rustic luxury."
John R. & Victoria
P., Portland, OR.
"It's always a pleasant surprise to find that searching on the internet
for a place to stay can yield excellent finds. The breakfasts were out of this
world; the rooms were cozy; the mattress perfect for a good night's rest after
a fun day in Taos. And then, on our last hurried morning, to find a special
breakfast-to-go waiting ~ just for us ~ was a perfect ending to a perfect
visit! You make running a bed and breakfast look effortless ~ no mean feat!
We'll be back."
