Network Administrator

The Network Administrator designs, builds and maintains Topica network infrastructure. Has key responsibility for the identification and resolution of hardware and software problems and malfunctions related to network. Designs and implements network security solutions. Involved in a 24x7 on-call support rotation maintenance windows. As a member of Operations responsible for Unix system administration functions.

Responsibilities:
Configuration, installation, and management of all network devices (Cisco routers, F5 BigIP controllers, Alteon, Intel and HP switches),
Primary technical contact for bandwidth providers.
Configure and maintain private vpn connections between multiple sites.
Configures and troubleshoots internal (OSPF) and external (BGP) routing protocols, various system and network problems.
Responsible for planning, configuring and supporting company DNS.
Designs and implements network security solutions.
Has key responsibility for the identification and resolution of technical problems and malfunctions related to network. Performs root cause analysis on all network outages and degradations.
Participates in a 24x7 on call support rotation.
Designs and implements administration scripts.
Maintains up to date documentation of network design, operation and procedure manuals
Responsible for hardware maintenance, OS maintenance, capacity monitoring, performance monitoring and system tuning, proactive system monitoring, system troubleshooting, security management, other standard unix sysadmin functions

Qualifications:
3 - 5 years of solid network LAN/WAN experience
Expert understanding of communication protocols and the OSI layers 1 - 7.
Working knowledge of data technologies including, DNS, DHCP, Network Management Services, VLANS, network protocols TCP/IP,IPSEC and network routing protocols OSPF, BGP
Strong experience with installation, operation and support of network equipment at colocation facilities
Must have strong troubleshooting skills with expertise in fine tuning and resolving hardware, operating systems and software issues
3 5 years experience in Unix servers administration.
Deep understanding of installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of variety unix based LANs
Strong knowledge in UNIX internals, performance tuning and monitoring resource utilization
Ability to script in perl and/or shell programming.
Any SAN experience is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, detail focus and problem solving skills.
