BC's Okanagan

Behold the Valley of Orchards. The Okanagan Valley is known around the world for its scenic beauty and fruit orchards. It is now becoming known for its vineyards. As you travel through the Thompson Okanagan, you will uncover some of the province's best wineries. Ensconced in the region's most spectacular scenery, the estate, farm, and major wineries are as diverse as the wines they produce. Often enveloped by lush vineyards, each has its own unique character whether set in an enchanting stone house or a 120 year old log home.

The winery's name, Bounty Cellars, is inspired by British Columbia's bountiful Okanagan valley, which produces numerous exceptional wines year after year. Bounty Cellars was incorporated March 2004 with its first bottling May 2005. The winery is poised to become the négociant of the Okanagan; which translates to a “wine merchant. These merchants buy grapes and wine from various vineyards and wineries and produce it to sell under their own label. The winery was created under the expertise of Ron Pennington and Wade Rains, with the goal of 'thinking outside of the barrel.'

Fine wine is just one of aspects of Bounty Cellars, which also specializes in creating premium custom labels for a variety of clientèle.

The possibilities are endless for uses of a great wine with customized labels. Another unique feature of the winery is its ability to custom blend wines under the guidance of senior winemaker Alan Marks.

Granite Creek Estate Winery

2302 Skimikin Road
Tappen, B.C. Canada V0E 2X0

Tel: (250) 835-0049

Mayka and Doug Kennedy began winemaking at home, and their enthusiasm led them to explore the wine regions of Europe. Mayka's degree in Chemistry and chemical engineering are a strong asset in understanding the technical side of winemaking. Her skills are complemented by Doug's management experience, and both have a love of wine.

The winery is located on a very unique and strategically located piece of land in the Shuswap Lake country. The mix of soils aspect, topography and climate, gives us a microclimate highly suited to grape production. The farm property, in addition to its grape vineyard potential, has many other attributes relative to agriculture tourism. It crosses the entire valley at the head of Tappen Valley and serves as the eastern gateway to Skimikin Valley. The farm has high agriculture capability ratings and is surrounded on three sides by forested crown land. It is made up of agricultural lands and forested lands and supports a seven-kilometer trail network, which ties into the larger crown land trail network. A very unique resource available to guests is a 30-acre bowl made up of a series of springs that we've named Granite Springs. This is the source of water for Granite Creek now known as Tappen Creek. The Farm and Winery are named after the original name of Granite Creek which was changed due to historical events. The bio diversity of this spring area is quite unique and supports a lot of B.C. coastal vegetation in this interior location. It is highly environmentally sensitive on one hand, while offering valuable educational experience.

The winery is just a short distance up road from Recline Ridge.
