What to Look For in an SEO Firm? Results!

It’s that simple … how easy is it to find *their* site in Google and other important search engines? How many case studies can they show you to prove they have performed for other clients?

Something else to look for: Articles on their site explaining search engine optimization. For example, read this article on SEO Secrets. Articles like that help you understand the SEO firm’s approach to optimization and demonstrate their knowledge of the process.

Whether the firm publishes articles on search engine optimization or not, expect them to explain how they will improve your search engine placement.

  • Will they analyze your targeted keywords and recommend additions and changes? Ask them to tell you how they conduct their keyword research.
  • Will they simply rely on changing your keywords or will title and content be rewritten where necessary for search engine optimization?
  • Who will implement the recommended changes?
  • What about link structure and architecture of your site? How will that be changed to enhance search engine optimization?

If they are vague about their SEO strategy, look elsewhere.

Expect them to have a strong emphasis on link development. Incoming and outgoing links are important. Look for a firm that will spend a lot of time on developing both one way links for your site, as well as link exchanges with relevant sites.

Be sure to contact look at how their other clients rank in the search engines and send them an email to get feedback on the firm.

What to avoid: Firms that rely entirely upon link trades. Link exchanges can still be valuable, but they are less and less important to search engines. Avoid like the plague: SEO firms which use cloaking or doorway pages. This is considered spam and when caught, can get your site banned from Google for life.
