We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and got nothing, we baited and got nothing, so we jigged one more timeand got 2 small aku. So we set up and went to a different buoy, as we got near it we took a marlin hit that screamed out 300 yards of line jumped and came off, bummer. At the buoy we ran a dead aku and a marlin came around and looked at our aku but did not eat it. Jon baited up a shibi and we ran it live, then a shark and 2 mahi came in and we got all three of them on and got all 3, It was wild action for awhile there. Then on our way in we had one more marlin hit the rigger and then come off after pulling 20 yards of line out. Jon is an avid angler and a regular with us, he did great today on this big 37 pound mahi on 80 no leader. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. No hits so we jigged and lost a few aku to the sharks, when we got one we ran it live. For a change a couple of mahi came in on the aku and we baited up one of them. Then we baited and hooked  2 sharks on 80 pound test and tagged one and let it go, the other one got close to the boat and broke line. We had a few more sharks on that came off. We had another mahi follow us and we baited it up and got it too. The aku and shibi were not cooperating very well today. These folks did a great job today on these fish. Back in the harbor everyone except Susan was bold enough to eat an eyeball, I like it. Good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 15 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On our first pass at the buoy we hooked a 35 pound ono and Jon reeled it in. Then we lost a few aku to the throng of sharks that call the buoy home. When we finaly caught an aku we ran it live and hooked a shark promptly, David reeled on it and then it broke line. We set up and trolled to another buoy. When we baited there we got a few shibi and aku and hooked a shark on 80 and Jon reeled it to the boat before it rolled and broke the line. These folks did a good job on these fish today. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 5:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On the way we took 3 ono hits and Jim got all 3, great way to start the day. At the buoy we caught a small mahi on our first pass. Then we got a few aku and shibi and only lost one to the big pack of sharks that is ever present nowadays. Then we set up and trolled up and out and found some birds but found no fish with them. No hits on the  way in. Jim did good today on all these fish. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and caught some aku and ran one live, it did not take long before a shark came along and ate it, Ken reeled it in and we tagged it and let it go. It was slow so we went to a different buoy. At the buoy a mahi came in and we baited it up, and we got it. Some small shibi came up on bait, then a small mahi came in and we got it to. Back in the harbor both Tom and Doug ate eyeballs gladly. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorte buoy. We had a nice marlin hit and scream 300 yards of line out then jump and throw the hooks, inside the buoy. No hits at the buoy so we jigged and lost a few aku to the ever present sharks before we got one and ran it live. When we baited we got some shibi and a mahi came by and we got it. A few more mahi  showed up and we got 3 more. We got the rainbow runners on bait too. These folks did great today on all these fish, in the sorta rough water we had today. Back in the harbor only Michael and Alex, were game to eat eyeballs. Good going . Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 25 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. We got a small aku on our first pass at the buoy, then jigged and put out a small aku live. It only took 20 seconds before a shark ate it, and we had it on, but it cut the line and was gone. The next shark was a big one and Robert reeled it in and we tagged it and let it go. While that shark was on Scot baited up a nice 23 pound shibi for Matt. Then we put the secret weapons out and they were getting hit but not sticking. Scot baited up a bunch more small shibi that we somehow got past the sharks. Then a 33 pound shibi grabbed one of our secret weapons and Matt got it. Then Matt got to reel in his own shark, and we tagged and released it. On our way in we had a marlin hit that took out 20 yards of line and then came off. In the harbor both of these guys ate eyeballs, I like it. These guys did great on this super rough day of rock and roll, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 25 kph trades going to the west side. We found lots of bird life in the area of the v buoy, but no big hits. We got a small kawakawa in the area. We trolled around on the 1,000 fathom for a while, but no hits. On our way home we got a nice ono in the bottom of the ninth inning. We had a mahi hit but it came off. In the harbor Paul ate 2 eyeballs, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Bill Fitzharris caught 1 big shibi 92 pounds big,1 mahi and some aku and shibi
We got going at 5:00 on this day of 25+ kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On our first pass we took a triple big shibi two kept screaming and one did not. We got one and one came off way out there. We trolled around for awhile but only small aku were hitting the big lures now so we went to the light line and got some small aku and ran one live. A shark came along and after it had been chasing the aku it finally ate it and hooked up. It somehow got the line around the buoy rope and broke off. Then we baited and were getting some small shibi and aku with a shark escort, they were less aggresive today. On our way in we had a marlin hookup and Bill got it close to the boat and it jumped and ran and came off, bummer. Bill did great today considering that it was super rough today, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Paul Kau, Andrew Riehemann, and Jeff Burbank caught 2 sharks 1 ono 1 shibi and 1 mahi
We got going at 4:30 on this day of 25 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. No hits trolling so we jigged and caught a small aku and ran it live. Within seconds 2 sharks charged it and the fastest one hooked up. Paul reeled it in and we tagged it and let it go. When we baited Scot was getting some small shibi and only a few were eaten by the sharks. We did our secret weapon thing a few times before it worked and we got a nice size shibi. When we set up to troll a nice shibi hit the rigger and before we could get it to the boat a shark ate most of it. Next pass at the buoy we had a marlin come in and hit the corner lure and then go back and it hooked up on the rigger. It jumped wildly  twice towards the boat and came off bummer. On our way in we had an ono hit in the blind and Jeff got to reel it in. Close to the harbor we got a small mahi. In the harbor both Jeff and Paul were up for eating an eyeball. These guys did real good considering how rough it was today, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty
