It was 4:00 when we took off on this day of 20 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. We got our ono near the buoy and hooked our mahi at the buoy on the first pass. Then we baited and got some small one and a few big ones too, on light line they are lots of fun. No hits on the way in. In the harbor only John was game to eat an eyeball. These folks did great, they were able to handel. Aloha Capt Rusty

We left at 4:00 on this day of 25 mph trades going to my old favorite buoy. We took a triple but they all came off. We came back with light line and got some baits and ran them live. A mahi came around and Scot baited it up. We baited and got a few smaller shibi then Ken hooked up a nice big shibi on bait and got it. We trolled outside and took a double but they both came off. Back in the harbor both Steve and Ken gladly ate eyeballs. These guys did great going for 4 days in a row, it's an endurance thing and they did great, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

We departed at 6:00 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. We got no hits trolling so we jigged and caught some baits and ran them live. We baited and got 2 mahi and then baited again and got some nice big shibi on light line. When the bite slowed down we went to a different buoy, and got 1 more bigger shibi there. Ken was getting better at his baiting skills, with all this practice. Back in the harbor everyone except Joe ate eyballs with no preasure. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Steve Manser, Steve Mapua, Angela King, Ken Hoffman caught 1 big 236 pound marlin 4 mahi and 3 big shibi for a great day of fishing
We got going at 6:00 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. As we got near the buoy we hooked a marlin that took out 300 yards of line and jumped around a lot before it settled down. Steve Mapua got to reel it in and he did a great job of getting it to the boat in about 25 minutes. It was sorta easy at gaff but took awhile to calm down. At the buoy we got some baits and ran them live, after a while a mahi came around and Scot baited it up. When we tryed to bait some bigger shibi came up and we got a few. Some more mahi came by and Scot hooked them up too. We spent the day at the buoy, no hits on the way in. In the harbor everyone except Angela ate eyeballs gladly. This is day 2 of 4 for Steve and Ken. Aloha Capt Rusty

Then we went out and found an open school and got 3 more, one a big 40 pounder. Then back to another buoy and we got a few more mahi  there, most of them on light line. We went out today at 4:30 on my birthday looking for my birthday Marlin. We went to my favorite buoy and got aku and shibi and then baited and got some big shibi on light line. I did get to reel in a 41 pounder on 50 pound test for a nice workout. But no marlin came around for us today. The shibi will have to do. Aloha Capt Rusty

We did our same route again and only got 1 mahi all day, and it was only 14 pounds and did not qualify. We were in the right place as we got to see one boat get a marlin and one boat land an ahi. We were in 8th place at the end of the day. It was a fun 3 days, but I can't wait to get back to baiting. Aloha Capt Rusty
