Are you an ambassador for Vancouver, the province and even the country?
Do you enjoy talking and meeting people from all over the world?
If you answered "Yes" to the questions above, the role of Observation Deck
Associate is the position for you. This role requires superior skills in
dealing with all visitors to the observation deck and providing them with
information and a pleasant experience during their visit to the Vancouver
Lookout and the city. We like to think of ourselves as the “concierge in
the sky”, we are looking for people who want to know about the city (or
already know a lot about the city) and share this information with our
visitors. The role requires all staff members to keep on top of current
events in the city and to have the ability to recommend/suggest activities
to visitors.
The role includes working at our Ticket Desk which involves a working
knowledge of computers and/or till systems. The ability to handle cash
efficiently and accurately is a must. The desk also provides information
and assistance to all visitors, passer-bys, tour directors, etc. The ticket
desk is the first impression for the Vancouver Lookout. You can make a
difference!
Another aspect to the role is to work the service area for the Cappuccino Lounge, this would include preparing and serving all non-alcoholic beverages, such as coffee, tea, lattés, cappuccinos, bottled drinks and some food items. The role requires superior cash handling skills. This position also provides concierge/information services to all guests.
We provide tours for some of our tour operator partners which all staff
members are required to deliver tours for both large and small groups and
possibly in other languages. We provide mini-tours for all visitors to the
deck.
The role also has a safety element as well, regular walking of the observation deck is required to ensure that guests are safe and conducting themselves in an appropriate manner.
As with many positions, there are light housekeeping duties, such as while
walking the deck tidying brochures or collecting any rubbish along the
windows or floors. Frequently checking washrooms, ensure the cappuccino
lounge area is clear of dishes and always inviting for visitors. We require
staff members to clean the windows throughout their shift to ensure our
guests can always get the best view. Nightly cleaning of the Cappuccino
service area, ticket desk and deck is also required.
The role requires being proactive, approachable and pleasant to all visitors. This position is made for people who enjoy talking to others, learning about others and sharing information and ideas with others.
