Small
The small, cube-like shape allows iDigital Q series to blend into any room or situation. At about 1/7th the volume of typical desktop PC's, the iDigital Q isn't forced to hide underneath the desk by your feet. iDigital Q even fits into the living room environment, anything except a high performance desktop PC.

Get the Aluminum Advantage
iDigital was one of the first PC hardware manufacturers to popularize the use of brushed aluminum cases, and once you get to know the advantages of aluminum you'll know why the rest of the world is following suit.
Aluminum alloys are harder and stronger than steel, and aluminum the best strength-to-weight ratio of any metal. One of the advantages of this is that unlike many sheet metal cases, iDigital Qs won't warp or twist out of shape through repeated openings or when you place weight on them, such as an LCD monitor. Despite this durability, Qs remain light and small enough for easy portability.
Cooling
The world has seen a stunning increase in CPU and bus speeds over the last few years. This extreme acceleration, combined with the need to pack even more functionality into ever smaller spaces, today mean an equally dramatic increase in the amount of heat generated by components inside the computer.
Most PC manufacturers have done the obvious: increase the size of the heatsinks along with the number and power of fans located inside the chassis. The big problem with this approach, of course, is the noise. Imagine being in a small room where one person is whispering quietly. You probably don't even notice the noise. But when a half-dozen people are whispering at once and all you want is a little peace and quiet, it's enough to drive you mad. The comparison with PCs is quite similar. Many performance systems, sporting numerous high-speed fans, output more than 60 decibels, which is about the same level as a regular conversation. Knowing that few PC users want this sort of noise pollution, iDigital devised a better heat solution: our Integrated Cooling Engine (I.C.E.) heat pipe technology.
Memory
All RAM chips are not created equal. Very few companies actually make memory chips but several hundred sell memory modules [DRAM chips attached to a circuit board]. The top tier suppliers manufacture the entire module and place the DRAM chips under a severe battery of tests that include extremities in temperature. Chips are graded based on their performance. The ones that come in top-of-class go into memory modules from top-tier suppliers.
What happens to the ones that marginally fail? They are often thrown out, but some are re-tested and graded for lower speeds. Sometimes they are sold to third party vendors who re-brand the memory with their own names. This "generic memory" will save you a few dollars and likely work today when installed in your computer, but it is prone to failure over the long term because of fundamental flaws that existed from the beginning.
Experience SilentX
iDigital Q systems have always been famous for their quiet running. But now we've made our PCs even quieter with the new SilentX power supply.
The new power supply design is lighter than previous models yet increases the peak wattage to 250W in order to accommodate today's more demanding components. At the same time, we integrated two near-silent 40 mm fans into the power supply, one at each end to create a sort of pull-push airflow. Additionally, air vent design is newly optimized to prevent noise from air turbulence. The end result is a high-performance fan that outputs a mere 32 dB under a full system load. When running at a regular idle, the power supply is so quiet that you'll need to put your ear up to it in order to make sure that the fans are working!
SilentX power supplies are also updated to accommodate the latest device needs, such as dedicated 12V power and a SATA power connector for the latest hard drives. The design has proven so popular with existing Q users that we've made the SilentX power supply available as a stand-alone upgrade for over a dozen models dating all the way back to the R100.
