National Consumer Protection Week on Credit.com

Personal finance experts team up to highlight identity theft, fraud and privacy issues.

San Francisco, CA (February 6, 2006) – In recognition of National Consumer Protection Week, Credit.com’s team of personal finance experts will be focusing on identity theft, fraud and privacy topics all week. This is the eighth year that consumer advocacy and government agencies have worked together to promote National Consumer Protection Week. Information for consumers and reporters is available at www.credit.com.

“Among true identity theft, account take-over, phishing and pharming scams and other fraudulent schemes, it can be a treacherous world,” said Credit.com President, CEO Adam Levin. “Credit.com’s goal is to help consumers understand the magnitude of the problem, minimize the risk of becoming a victim and learn how to effectively deal with creditors, credit reporting bureaus, government agencies and utilities in the event of victimization.”

Credit.com’s interactive blog, CreditBloggers.com also will offer topical discussions about consumer protection issues this week. National Consumer Protection Week themes include prevention tips, fraud news, real stories, recognition of outstanding consumer advocates and links to online resources. Contributors to CreditBloggers.com include:

  • Adam Levin – Co-Founder of Credit.com and former Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
  • Emily Davidson – Credit.com’s Communication Director and former TransUnion credit expert.
